Do you even play games? Maybe the blatant clones aren't everywhere but almost every game now a days forces a bunch of open world and rpg elements. Fucking driving games and sports games try to be skyrim.

Tons of games took inspiration from Skyrim. From Breath of the Wild to Final Fantasy XV. They just didn't make a total copy of it. Zelda is pretty much what Skyrim should have been.

nobody wants to make a direct clone because the development pipeline for how they do things is offensive
level designers don't want to have so little integrity that they're taking a bookshelf's model and burying 2/3rds of it through the floor in order to make a table

bethesda is so retarded that they're genius, it's not possible for other companies to be so lazy
even mobile game developers put in more effort to eliminate endless asset recycling
