Noble Human feels like the most canon origin. City Elf was more interesting to me with some of the character interactions though.

male dwarf noble is the best. human noble is generic garbage

Female city elf is the most fun, though human noble is decent too. Never really had a thing for dwarves, their questline is one of the best but their playstyle is one of the most boring.

The only issue with going human is that you wont run into your story quest untill 3/4's of the way through the game, while everyone else can after the first two areas of the game.
