What's the best quick combat Hack 'n Slash Game you've ever played and why?

I really enjoyed Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2 and DMC3 to a lesser extent, weapons felt nice to use, combat felt tight and rewarding.

I'm struggling to find Nier:automata enjoyable given the enemies are boring, the weapon control does not feel tight and everything feels a step removed.
