I commend the amount of effort the guy is putting into this little lost PS1 game themed horror story. He's got the aesthetics down pat.
>>
In regards to the whole Candace Newmaker theory, I realized that the "QUITTER'S ROOM" pretty much seals the deal on it being a reference to her. After one of the adults holding her down asked if she wanted to be born she said her final word, "no," which the adult responded to by saying "Quitter, quitter, quitter, quitter! Quit, quit, quit, quit. She's a quitter!"

I haven't seen anyone else point that out so I figured I'd put it out there

Where do you think this story is going?
>>
Is this actually worth watching or is it fucking lame like most of these things
>>
>>383962807
It's worth a watch.
>>
So probably not getting anything new till later this year right?
>>
>>383962807
very lame, especially when the author just straight out censors part of the screen in a lousy attempt to create mystery. he cant into proper narrative for a creepypasta.

I want to play a real Petscop game, fuck the lore and the creepypastas
>>
>>383961605

It's pretty cool that he made an actual game for it, but it moves at a snails pace. Sometimes an entire episode happens with nothing going on.

I'm also not convinced that this is going to have a satisfying ending whatsoever, since it seems like that's the biggest flaw of things like this. At the very least he has not done "the haunted game knows who I am IRL and starts talking directly to me by name" thing.... yet.
>>
>>383963028
You were all making the censoring out to be a lot worse than it turned out being. Sure it's not the best plot device he could have used, but I'd consider it fully redeemed if we actually end up seeing what it was and an explanation for why we didn't see it

>>
>>383963234
Hopefully it doesn't but it feels like it does already or the 4th wall breaking is just making me feel like it
>>
>>383962807
Eh, its ok.. Solid 5/10, some would say 6/10

Some guy remade the looks of a PS1 game on PC and is billing it as a game someone sent him or he found or something and it came with a note and he follows the instructions and then it looks like slenderman.

I was enjoying it until it went over the top with its 2spoops14me no lighting, brick building and black skybox.

Subtle like a hammer.
>>
>>383961992
it will be more like an ARG than a typical 'haunted game creepypasta', where there is definitively no supernatural element and instead some mundane threat (cult or individual psycho). the long break its currently in is part of the story. when it comes back there will be reference to major events which have occurred 'IRL' for him and his friends - possibly the actual petscop channel will no longer update at all and we'll get something from another in-universe/in-game source.
>>
>>383961605
>I recommend against joining the thread and discussion until you've enjoyed the videos yourself.
Fuck you buddy I do what I want.
>>
>>383962807
Best one I've seen by far. What really makes it is the guy's acting. It was so good that I started to assume that the creator programmed the game and then gave it to the narrator to play, unaware of what would happen, or at least to some extent.

He's most likely just a smart actor
>>
>>383964648
Its easily 9/10. Easily.
>>
>>383961992
I hate NightMind being retarded and shutting down the Candace theory with the "there's no evidence" bullshit. It's obvious as fuck. There's multiple stories this thing is based on right now. There's the Daisy Head Dr. Seuss book, Candace Newmaker, and the windmill thing nobody can find connections to. NightMind's biggest piece of evidence was saying there's no references beyond a name, but the Child Library is obviously an orphanage which solidifies the Candace theory even more.
>>
I'd be more excited if it hadn't been over a month since the last episode. Shit's taking forever, episode 11 better be long as hell.

Better than marble hornets and ben drowned already. The pacing is good too.
>>
I'm only on the second, but I'm kind of liking this. This is what creepypasta should be. It requires actual effort. Anyone can write something about hyper-realistic blood and bullshit, but to make something that rather convincingly looks like some mysterious, unknown PS1 game like this is somewhat impressive.

I don't know, maybe in two years I'll look back and think 'fuck did I really think that wack crap was a cool thing?' like with Marble Hornets.

>>383968153
Marble Hornet's first season was very well done and works well as a horror movie.
Don't get me wrong, Petscop has great production values. But it's not really that good. It's got some neat spooks, but I imagine that it'lll end up like NES Godzilla with a stupid finale.
>>
>>383968564
I'm totally expecting the finale of Petscop to shit the bed completely.
>>
>>383968564
>but I imagine that it'lll end up like NES Godzilla with a stupid finale.
Something about the format and his behavior makes me believe that there isn't going to be a big finale. I don't think everything's going to be neatly wrapped up, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if 10 was the final video

Seriously, there's no way I can imagine the narrator character really coping with something serious happening. It doesn't fit the format and his behavior. If he's smart I think he'll see that too
>>
Watched a couple of the videos. The game from a design stand point is pretty interesting. Looks pretty good in capturing the PS1 game feeling except for the stable frame rate and still textures.
>>
WHERE THE FUCK IS PETSCOP 11
>>
>>383968564
Marble Hornets season 1 as 10/10 but the last season was 4/10 and then the troy guy started getting really pretentious and broke the group up because he wanted to keep all the money.
>>
>>383969773
I stopped watching Marble Hornets after the timeskip that immediately went into flash back tapes. I was confused as fuck about what was when considering the long waits between episodes.
>>
>>383968153
Ben Drowned had the best ending to this type of shit to date.
>>
Is there still no new one up?
>>
>>383969848
I watched the whole thing and I couldn't really tell you the plot. I think alex was behind slenderman but then troy chases him through time and kills him or something. EverymanHybrid has the same problem with not knowing when to end

The ending was perfect and has the secret to how to defeat any ghost.

>>383961605
i actually really fucking hate this.

like bravo on making all this shit, it's really fucking authentic as far as crappy ps1 games go, but it'd be a whole lot creepier as a series if it didn't have some whiny faggot talking over it trying to "explain" it.
>>
>>383970691

>>
>>383971092
That's how it always goes

>recites the head of a wikia entry about the story

>regurgitates simple rundowns of a few fan theories
>"hey guys thank you so much for watching..."
>>
>>383971297
One of the best moments in the whole thing
>>
>>383965958
I think he made a good point though. Like, maybe the story is making allusions to the Candace Newmaker thing, but the game was said to be made before that went down, so maybe it isn't as important as some people think it to be.

Why do people do this?
>>
While I don't hate it, the whole thing just has so many flaws in my mind.

The writing/narration comes off as stilted and unnatural. Most of the way he talks doesn't feel genuine at all.

The way he plays the game also doesn't feel like something a first time player would be doing either. Like an example would be a person would be bumping up against pretty much everything trying to see if they can interact with it. Instead, he basically beelines to the only scripted stuff like he knows what does/doesn't work.

The graphics just.. Don't work that way. There would be no reason for a lighting engine to be set up like that in the game, let alone have everything premade and so wildly different graphically unless the game was built ontop of another.

And most of all, there is no damn reason that the collectables would be strewn about like they were unless they were manually placed like that.

Its a really interesting concept and I applaud the guy for what hes trying, but theres so many effin problems even on a base level with the thing.

The best part about Petscop is how good Paul's character is. He comes off as 100% legitimate. Hell, even this retard >>383965167 thinks he's a legitimately unaware player.
>>
>>383975112
He mentions that the game was probably made to send a message to someone personally, and that he wasn't that person.
Even though it's fake, everything so far is built off of it being made personally as a message for another person.
>>

He said the game ISN'T doing that, retard. He literally said the opposite and you sperg out like the fedoratard you are.
>>
>>383962807
Neat for the fact it's someone making a game to seem like a lost game. it does hit that mark very well. You could very easily see parts of this being a legit 90's ps1 game that never made it past alpha.

Lame for the fact that you know it's a creepy pasta thing and those are never good. No story it delivers can be too interesting because it's just gonna be 'woooo dead little girl" or some shit

I'd say it's worth watching if you don't mind the creepypasta aspect existing and just want to see someone's effort going into making a beleivable fake game.
>>
>>383975707
I wonder, has anyone made a real creepypasta-esque game and loaded it on an SNES cart or something? I'd think after all these types of stories someone would do that and sell it to a used game store.
>>
>>383975295
I'm honestly not sure how anyone would feel he comes out as genuine. Maybe its because I've watched normal LPs and even blind LPs, but from the way he talks to the way he interacts with everything just comes off as scripted to me.

>>383975342
I guess? I mean he doesn't really say that much, just that there was a note with instructions on how to get into that other area. That said, even if thats true it would be an absurd amount of work to make a game as a message.
>>
>>383975430
Nothing really extraordinary like that happens (yet), but yeah it's moments like this that make me feel like it's going to have the NES Godzilla ending, only without STILL THE BEST
>>
>>383971296
My guess is it's where the ARG elements are really going to take off. They say it's censored for the time being, and my best guess is it's going to be locations IRL and they're just waiting to plant or place stuff at said locations.

>>383975887
Well I mean, not really that much work. From what the game has shown so far, it could probably be done in a week and some change in your off-time. It's just that he directly states that "hey this feels like it was meant to send a personal message and that the start kinda hides it for those it wasn't intended for" or something.
If he didn't mention it was made in 1997 it would be much more believeable though since the entire thing is apparently referencing stuff in the future
>>
>>383976019
Fuck you, that'd better not be true

They probably would have gone with a haunted .exe file or something if that were the case, though. This PS1 aspect doesn't make much sense, especially with the game telling you to turn the Playstation off
>>
>>383976187
>If he didn't mention it was made in 1997
But he didn't. That's just the copyright date on the title screen, which means nothing because the game was never finished, the date would just be a placeholder.
