My biggest problem with fear 2 was that instead of squads already in the levels, waves of enemies would just spawn in once you walked past a certain point.
I don't know anything about modding, but I'm really surprised at the lack of mods/map packs for fear 1.

NGB was awesome because in the harder levels they replaced common enemies with entirely new enemies that were even harder. Nowadays, a game will just replace some common enemies with mini bosses, which sucks.

Level packs and mods would be fucking INCREDIBLE for FEAR. I sorta enjoyed FEAR 2, but FEAR 3 was an embarrassment.
Are there any other games like FEAR? Like in terms of level design? Only Half-Life comes to mind.

there were at least 3 map packs for FEAR. Each one had maybe 20 or so maps. The problem was that very few of the maps were single player, so I never tried them. At least the tools to make maps are there. Maybe one day it will get a community like Doom.

Something tells me that FEAR levels are really hard to design. In a level made by the average person, the AI would either be unstoppable or ridiculously easy to kill. I'm talking out of my ass but I bet the levels in FEAR were designed around the AI.
