At any rate, there comes a point where, unless a new, amazingly fun mode appears, the amount of content isn't really going to influence how much I play a game. At that point, new maps and weapons won't pull me back to a game I've grown too tired of. Payload Race reignited my joy for TF2 for a few weeks, got me back into the swing of things, and then I slowly dropped it again, and I haven't looked back since. In fact, I've barely been able to get into shooters at all after I dumped hundreds of hours into TF2 and both L4D games, and it's only because of Splatoon's more unique core mechanics that I'm even willing to give it the time of day.

Gyro makes decent controls accessible on console. That is where it is considered revolutionary since it can cause a shift in how an entire genre is played. Console developers have had access to mouse and keyboard for years and it seems they are not going to use it for whatever reason. Gyro can be built into the default controller and doesn't force you to play at a desk, so it has a much better chance of gaining wider use. In a hypothetical situation where someone had the terrible idea to hold a Counter Strike tournament that was restricted to controllers, the winning team would likely be using gyro.
