The story and characters are consistently great. It's just the combat, 'dungeons' and enemies that are boring all the way through (might just be a tales thing though). Still a great game and all the girls are top tier

Dungeons are fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Just some halls, with some branches, and finding the exit. Same as any other JRPG.

As for Enemies, I just think there should be more fast enemies, the slow big guys are easy to beat, birds are annoying. I would like more human bosses too. Those are always the best fights.

The first playthrough is always the most enjoyable part of the game
when you're done with story and skits all that's left is the gameplay, in which case it's kinda average in Berseria
But don't let this stop you from enjoying the rest of your playthrough, do as much as you can

Yeah the human enemies were cool I just admit. Got bored of generic dragon/snake/bird though. Dungeons just really bored me though they felt really really bland especially for 2017

As I said though the story was fantastic and made me cry multiple times ;_;

Most JRPGs I've played (including older Tales games) have some thought put into the dungeon layout with puzzles to break the monotony. Berseria dungeons are literally just assets thrown around with no thought put into their placements and puzzles are nonexistent. Tales dungeon designs have been garbage ever since Xillia.

Stop playing on easy or normal. Hell even on Normal I needed to stop a bit to just block. I guess you can mash your way through if you abuse items and soul potions everytime you go low on theorion attacks. and just spamming a bunch of artes to link together is way more fun than regular attacks then doing some arte.

No there hasn't. Even Vesperia's dungeons were straightforward with just simple button presses or locks.

I will say this though, having an actual overworld breaks apart the monotomy. Berseria's open world just feels like another dungeon. Making the entire game feel super samey

It's not awful, but as as someone who loves this series and adores this game I can see the gameplay falls short to some degree. Velvet is to spammy, the other characters are a bit more fun to play as. Rokurou was my shit.

Thats been a thing in the franchise for the past few games and it's gotten old.

I really love the game OP, but its got its flaws.

No matter how much strength I gave Roku and the others, their DPS was far lower than Velvet's. She could get off five attacks to their three.

The story was cool until you find out laphi never died. Shit twist desu

While the characters/story are good everything else about the game is sub par at best. Shit ost, battle system, graphics still look worse than Vesperia

Artorious' whole thing was being unable to cope with his own pain from multiple tragedies through his life. Then he teamed up with Melchior, who was already a dead husk on the inside for living as long as he did and already had most of the plan in place. The whole thing happened because, broken, emotionally crippled people had actual access to remove emotion as a factor of life.

Artorius' master, who had lived for hundreds of years, breaks his oath and immediately dies to save him. Then, Artorius meets a nice girl and has a child, but because of human selfishness and the fact that malevolence and rampant emotions were a thing, he lost both of them. Melchior manipulated his despair, and Artorius eventually fell into the belief that the only way to save mankind from the kinds of tragedies he had lived was to strip them of the source of malevolence -- their emotion. He was saving humanity from daemonhood the only way that was plausible/long lasting, because as a whole he had completely given up on humanity.
The only thing that's kind of inconsistent is Innominat and the Therions.
