I agree with you on everything, the game is incredible. 5 would be my equal favourite, even with the rng, and I think 30 Days of Empty Words was great mechanically.

I enjoyed the lab mission, too; it's my favourite mission just to play, perfect blend of music, time pressure, multitasking and an interesting puzzle instead of having to deal with people like the hostage mission or Suicide Mission to Save the World.
I can understand why you wouldn't like the desert, but personally I loved it for the thematics alone
