Will cross netplay be the big thing that companies will focus on? It would be nice that we don't need to play on a specific console since everyone will be connected and won't worry if the userbase is small or not. This is true especially in fighting games

Never. Platofrm and network exclusivity means more hardware sales. Only the third parties might be interested in crossplay, but they must first somehow persuade the console manufacturers to let this happen.

Crossplay will only become a thing when both companies are in deep shit with no clear winner. Sony currently has no reason to allow crossplay when it has the console with the bigger playerbase, same thing Microsoft did when the 360 was the one dominating.

Since Sony is dominating, what if Microsoft allowed network play with PC? I think that would change things since MS is on the loser side and maybe Sony will feel a lot of pressure
