I really wish I could enjoy these games. It's really upsetting that I can't. NWN, Baldur's Gate, etc. It's the semi-turn based combat that does it. It's like I tell the characters to do something then they just wait until their "turn". Sure I know that internally it's just turn based, but it makes it feel like they just aren't fucking listening to me. There isn't even a notifier saying they recognized the command and they're waiting on it. I never know if I actually got through or not.

This is why RTWP is the worst. RT or TB only, imo.

I realize this is most likely technically impossible, but if they could somehow make already existing user made modules compatible with the EE, that's be a huge selling point. There's a lot of content out there, and losing it all on a new edition would be regrettable. Even if an EE brought new players to the game, they wouldn't be able to experience some of the best content for it.

How else would you do it?
If the games trying to be as immersive and seamless as possible, I don't know of any way you could make the combat manageable without restricting combat to a single party member or dropping everything to go to a strictly turn based combat screen like JRPG/dungeon crawlers do.
But I agree, I honestly don't enjoy the combat of 90's RPG's.

They should just sort the fucking rights for the premium modules that aren't included in the Diamond Edition and rerelease it with everything included, and no DRM. They should pay the guys who made Darkness Over Daggerford to include that too (the same team behind Mysteries of Westgate, IIRC), and add some kind of in-game content browser to allow rating and direct download/installation of fan-created modules.

It'd be a lot of work, but I'd love to see it happen.

Seems like there's something they could do to update it. Every attempt since nwn1&2 to give players a toolset to make their own modules seems to have failed. Just wish someone would give it a genuine effort, even if it was built in nwns framework, or whatever.

DA:O feels like a really healthy middle ground. Even just having a little "attack" or "spell" symbol appear above their heads when they're planning on attacking, preferably with maybe a little ring that encircles the symbol as their turn approaches. My issue isn't so much with turn based stuff but the fact that the semi-turn based system makes it feel like my controls aren't responding. It's been awhile since I've tried them but I specifically remember a few times when it got someone killed or heavily damaged because they were getting beaten on while I screamed at them to move/fight back and they just stood there.

Doesn't really need it besides sorting out distribution for some of the premium modules, still runs fine on modern machines. Kotor though there's a game that needs an update, played it recently and had to tweak it all over the place to get it to run. I wish bioware would take the time to update the game like obsidian did for kotor 2.

I agree honestly.
It just feels like I'm not in the fray like I do with real time and paradoxically turn based. I don't know if I can sufficiently explain it but it's like there's a layer of abstraction in turn based that just fits with my immersion whereas turn based with pause fits, but not as neatly. Perhaps it's just me.

Freedom doesn't make you immune to disables. So its not worth it.
Haste increases your AC by a lot, so its always good.
Anything that grants Regeneration is really really good because combat takes forever, and so do walking around.

Paladin/Fighter 4/Champion of Torm
Get Divine Might and Divine Shield, put all your buffs on your hotbar, click as many buffs as you need depending on difficulty of fight.

not sure about Planescape never bothered with it's EE but if it's like the others the EE's they're an easy way of getting a modded version of the game and you can ignore the new characters if need be.

Icewind Dale EE added the BG2 kits to the game so there's alot going for that one in particular
