Sell me this series. I've heard goods and bads. What is /v/'s opinion?
It's a pretty good third person cover based shooter and the story is really good for some people and really stupid for others. you'll just have to play it to judge that for yourself. Also fuck you this aint game stop bitch we don't gotta sell you shitexcept fallout 4 dlc

Bretty gud if you ask me. Cover mechanics are solid in the first game and only get better with each title. Enemy variety is servicable in the first installment and drastically ramps up with each game. Lore is pretty interesting, the gunplay is solid, story is hit or miss for some people. I'd definitely recommend the trilogy at least, Judgement is skippable, and 4 is good in most areas.

1 the best atmosphere
2 the best shootan
3 the best horde mode
Playing Gears of War 1 multiplayer on was some of the best multiplayer gaming experience I ever had. Hammer of God on Rooftops loool

>homoerotic overtones so high they had to shoehorn females in the sequels
You'll like it.
3 is best in series in all categories (gnasher only faggots seriously fuck off), but it starts great in 1, gets amazing in 2, and becomes perfection in 3. The only problem with the game is all of its copycats are dog shit which led to a shooter drought on consoles.
Great third person shooter series to just have fun with. I personally love the art design mostly just because it reminds me of Warhammer without all the autism associated with it.
I'm like 85% done with the first game remastered
>Characters are shit
>Everyone looks like a roided gorilla
>Enemies all look alike
>Story is meh so far but I hear it gets better in the sequels
>everything is a bulletsponge
>Reloading mechanic is stupid have to time it right for extra damage
>Online is also just bulletsponges and shotguns to win
All of them are worth a play through. They really opened up a bunch of new mechanics and stuff you see in new games. I liked the set pieces and all the crazy shit. Also did a really good job of showing the war in my opinion, most games don't really have it there in the game. It's always something thats happening far away, but in Gears you see dudes getting blasted all over.

Gears of War 2 has an incredible campaign.
>>383855759
Good for a playthrough on each, especially co-op, multiplayer is fun for not being a FPS and killing others feels good. Each game feels less rigid than the last as they refined things like movement.
4th game is pretty good, thankfully doesn't rock the boat much like a certain other developer did when handed the reins of a series, and even has full PC/Xbone crossplay in multiplayer.

God Clayton was such a fucking waste
>>383855759
They're pretty fun third person shooters, but by the end of 3 it was very stale and tired. Multiplayer was completely awful. Judgment and 4 are just shit. The Uncharted games do it better.
God tier MP besides 2 and Judgement
Absolute shit tier campaign like all AAA garbage

3 has the best multiplayer in the trilogy
>>383860612
>>383860685
*the multiplayer in all of them was completely awful. Edit for clarification, these games are only good for single player and horde.
>>383855759
It's pretty damned fun with a friend doing couch co-op. If you're not playing split-screen, you're playing it wrong.

Play it on PC. Gamepads shitters are the worst.
1, 2, and 3 are all worth playing
ignore judgement and 4.
Play 123 and pretend they didnĀ“t make anymore.

2 and 3 only for xbox 360 and xbox one x
Ultimate Edition and Gears 4 are really fun.
Nothing will recapture my Winter of 2005-2006. Shit talking people so hard on Gears 1. Fun fucking days. Coming home from Highschool and just trash talking people with my friends all the way till 3am.
Too late to get into it in my opinion, it's past its prime if you are into multiplayer.

This.
Absolutely loved the coop. I played the first two with a good buddy of mine and it was the last time I managed to pull off a sleepless night without even noticing.

>Reloading mechanic is stupid have to time it right for extra damage
That's like the best mechanic in a shooter game since bunnyhopping. It adds risk reward to combat.
GOW2 PC REMASTER FUCKING WHEN
I MISS BEING IN LOCUST HELL
I MISS HEADSHOTTING THRONE SHITTERS
I MISS GARY JULES
FCK YOU MICROSOFT
Campaigns are alright, kind of bland stop and pop type deals with convenient knee-high cover everywhere but good for co-op and if you want a story that revolves around humanity on the brink of extinction and none of their plans seemingly working. Multiplayer is the complete opposite, incredibly fast paced close quarters combat despite what you got used to in the campaigns. Some people don't like it though.
I dunno anon, I feel like you only now want to get into the series you missed the bus but you can give them a go. Judgement is the worst, 3 is the best. 4 is 100 fucking gigabytes on PC.
>yfw seeing the Kryll for the first time
I own all of them and like the series but it's always a game I play for about a week when an installment releases and then don't come back to the franchise until a sequel comes out.
