Reminder that this is literally the best game of all time according to critics.
>>383855138
Who cares what paid critics think. Why do you let the opinions of others dictate how good you think a game is? The 0-10 scale is completely arbitrary and tells you nothing about the game or how good it is no matter how you try and put it.
>>383855138
>10/10 it's okay
>>383855138
I would rather play destiny or diablo or payday with my friends any day of the week. I played through TLOU and thought it was good but it is a linear movie and can't compete with playing with my friends.
>>383855210
Because nornies listen to them. The recent trend to cinematic experiences is due to the success of tlou.
>Gaming's Citizen Kane Moment
This will never cease to make me cringe and I liked The Last of Us.

Is citizen kane the dark souls of movies?
>Joel dies on the way home by some random infected
The canon ending.
>>383855993
No, it's the last of us of movies.
>>383855138
it's just a third person postapocalyptic game with a 2deep2sad story. I've seen more gameplay in a splinter cell game made like 10 years ago. I thought games were rated by their gameplay, not story and muh feels

jesus christ
Gaming's Citizen Kane would have to be something that uses the medium to its fullest.
TLOU is just a movie
If anything it's the Citizen Kane of modern movies
Which it's also not
>citizen cane
yeah what does that have to do with a modern zombie survival game
I finished this hard mode and played multiplayer a couple years ago.
but citizen cane of video games this makes no sense

Those critics are filthy casuals
Citizen Kane is something that mostly really ticks with people deep into creating stories. It's a fucking treasure trove if you're interested in writing/directing/creating a character, but if you're not — well, shit, you'll probably find it decent enough. It's a movie by a literally who, a guy who used his theatrical experience to turn stage and shot composition principles on their head and fuck with people for laughs. It was only picked up and studied years later by the next generation, because director's contemporaries were all stuck-up idiots. Basically, if Citizen Kane of games already happened, we didn't notice it yet. The Last of Us is not Citizen Kane, it's How Green Was My Valley, the movie that actually got Oscar in 1942, the movie that was not important for the future of cinema or even outstandingly good. It was an okay melodrama, very typical for its time, feels-y and attached to great John Ford's name. It was a safe pick, just like TLOU.

The standards for good writing and storytelling are very low in vidya so garbage like TLOU and David Cage """"games""""" gets rave reviews.
>>383855138
The Last of Us is great, but 1886 is better.

The Bored-er 1886
Is there any game that would legitimately be considered the Citizen Kane of Vidya?
Really the only one that could fit that mark to me would be Ocarina of Time given that it actually brought technological innovations to its industry and is remembered as one of the indisputable greats.

OoT is Gone With The Wind of vidyain both the good guys lose and both are just okay

>cool setting
>spawned hundreds of mods and countless hours of fun

i'm nostalgiafagging right now
>>383858812
It's you who's talking the cinematic cock up your ass, fag. Every single one of those smooth 30fps.

>Citizen Kane
Do half of these faggots even realize why that movie was so great or is it just a buzzword?
>>383859012
Don't be ridiculous. That would entail "journalists" actually have classic art education.
