Actually makes the online experience much more enjoyable. Made it feel like I was playing with actual humans rather than A.I. bots. You can correct people, socialize, shoot the shit, and talk shit. Playing RIGS multiplayer, I noticed everyone was talking, which was a great change of pace
a lot of people seemed caught off guard though, not realizing psvr has a built in mic that doesn't auto mute you
so some of that novelty was back

I made lots of cool buddies in Halo 2 as a teen. Was some pretty fun times. Back then, voice chat in games was something new, and even when talking online it was usually over Messengers. People were (mostly) out to make friends, because making friends meant joining cool custom games with custom maps and game modes to play shit like Fat Kid and Cops and Robbers. You had incentive to not be a dick because you could meet people for fun games easier that way.

Now it's way easier to find a group of gamer friends online, so you don't really depend on finding cool randoms to party with. This is also kinda how MMOs died as well imo. As the internet became more social, games became less. Why listen to random people when you can party up with friends you met on Facebook or whatever? Then people just became toxic fucks.
