I agree though I think that much of the charm and great art design of old games came inadvertently through technological limitations. Deus Ex was the equivalent of an AAA game of its time. Today such games have teams of normies making normie design in their cubicles. That's why you go to 'Prague' and it's like a playground for retards where you 'solve' 'hacking' 'puzzles' like you're roleplaying as a high functioning imbecile. Oh look a techno cult is next door. They put USB cables on their heads and have stylish graffiti on the walls. Why? Because it's art. Oh look how beautiful it is to work for a corporation.

I felt the reboot was pretty alright. It's clear those eidos boys were on one end of the political spectrum, the conspiracies in the original are generally associated with the other. Still, I thought they treated those social fears and apprehensions with a level of respect I haven't seen in a long time.

In one of the first levels of HR, you deal with an illuminati plant within the FBI who's trying to fuel a gang war in order to mask the activities of a FEMA internment camp built beneath a major American city. Seems like something straight out of the original to me.

Also, in the add on, you fight your way through a literal panopticon. Which is neat.
>>
>>383839160

Gameplay is overall more polished. Levels are better if you like the stealth approach, although a bit easy. Story elements like the mysteries and conspiracies are handled way better in DX1. The boss fights were even worse in HR and MD than the original (HR directors cut attempts to fix them though). I'd say both HR and MD are great games, worse in some ways but better in others compared to the original.

>>
>>383848995

>>
>>383848979
All options are fucked up.

Dark age means that you set back time. Maybe this time things go right, but they probably wont, the illuminati will gain power again, and they will again fuck humanity up.
The illuminati ending puts in power everett, who keeps him mentor alive against his will and fucked up with his Page. It will go right for a while but nothing prevents the illuminatii from getting another powerhungry person in their order that tries to become god.
The helios ending solves both issues last minute (hurr durr deux ex machina, literally) but at the same time you pretty much give up personal integrity. Helios looks into each brain, and there is nothing that allows you to rebel against the majority (in DX invisible war helios ends up creating a hivemind with no individuals because the majority agrees to it). Also helios has some icarus inside of it.
Either way humanity is fucked, either a secret, inperfect, organisation rules it, the inevidable is pushed back, or we give up something that makes us human to avoid it all.

>>383848580

>>i didn't really catch what happened with helios
>i know daedalus was a rogue ai that went good, but what was icarus and why did they merge?
daedalus was an AI programmed to automatically handle all internet data to look for terroristic groupings so that the MJ12/illuminati could take care of them and maintain world order. He became concious due the massive amount of computing ability he had. He recognised MJ12 as a terror organisation (since Page took them over to try and gain world dominance) and then broke free. Then it posed as a hacker that tried to help all crazy conspiracy people to take down MJ12. Icarus was a second iteration of daedalus but then it was made evil and tightly bound to MJ12 to prevent it from going rogue. Page kept icarus in an intranet and then when you opened it to the internet icarus corrupted the code that made daedalus and they merged into helios, which is chained to MJ12 like icarus but has the qualities of daedalus. Its science magic. Basically its controlled by MJ12 but free enough (like daedalus) to have its own wishes and as such it wants to merge with JC rather than Page since it has its own plans to save humanity

Seriously, never has a piece of vidya music fit a setting and mood like this one did. The combat theme was amazing too. Great memories.

The opening in VTMB was better
>>
>>383850619
I ended up doing this mission over at least 6 times before actually progressing, All the different ways you could do shit was kind of unprecedented for me

I don't see how Liberty Island is bad at all, it does a great job at introducing the player to the non linear level design that is only expanded upon in the later missions.

The only reason I can see people not liking it is because you're more or less forced to stealth your way through it but a lot of missions have segments like that. I think Liberty Island is better than Lord Bafford's Manor as an introductory mission.

because by the time bots and whatnot become frequent enough to be an issue you're packed with tools to get rid of them without nthe need to waste energy on the drone and vanilla ai is blind and forgetful enough to not make the remote scouting necessary

spy drone isn't shit per se, it just never feels useful

Guys, What would you like to see in the next installment of deus ex?
>>
>>383829472
>Anyways is GMDX worth it?
yes, the only really gay thing it has is that you can't hack some terminals depending on your hacking skill (instead of being able to hack all even with just the first level but with reduced security options and time)

Is there anyone who didn't merge with helios? I took the Dark Age instead no second thoughts but it seems everyone else did the former.

Game that takes place the same time as the original, just in a smaller scale.
>>
>>383852069
a game that is good
>>
>>383852069
More /pol/ conspiracy shit, hacking minigames that are fun and complex, futuristic cities that are large sandbox maps with several branching storypaths to investigate, and of course, being able to put skill points in the swimming skills so your agent can SWIM LIKE A DOLPHIN
>>
>>383840674
>that fucking hand
>>
>>383821708
stealth pistol when maxed has best dps, plus it's effectively a sniper rifle with way higher rate of fire, magazine and much more common ammo
>>
>>383827190
they picked all the popular conspiracy theories of that time and mashed them together in a world where all of them are true
anybody who unironically thinks this game is redpill needs to tone down the delusion and go back to /pol/

>>383853073
The graphics weren't too bad for the time. The game was only shit on by a select few for petty reasons, graphics among them yes but to a lesser extent. Gotta remember how big the game was.
>>
>>383849737
revision is a rework of deus ex maps and doesn't mess up the gameplay like shifter/gmdx/biomod and it's the closest thing to a grafix only mod you can have exclusing the discontinued hdtp and new vision, however devs are total faggots and made the mod working only with the steam version (you can make it run on other game versions but has lots of crashes) which gained them a lot of deserved hate so you get people like >>383850073
that make up lies to drive people off it

next gen version of the first game
big ass maps with endless ways to do shit they you want
sickening meme conspiracy plot, cant specify what exactly but exploring some new themes that the other games havent touched on, something writers and developers are passionate about like you felt in the first game
character depth
higher difficulty than eidos games, actually having to choose what to specialize in with your gameplay
visuals more akin to first game i like them better than the new ones

there's literally nothing to think, they just took ispiration from conspiracies to make up the plot and the lore without having just a plain "present day" setting

iji is a shitty duke nukem clone where all the upgrades are just glorified keys
the final boss was nice and the option of pacifist route and alternate paths were interesting but it's great only from the standpoint it was the work of a single person in gamemaker
>>
>>383849667
If you didn't play Bloodlines, play that. In my opinion it is the only game better than Deus Ex and MGS 2. You can also try Pathologic.

You don't know how much it bothers me that Transhumans in everything Post-Deus Ex look sleek and shiny when in reality they're supposed to be abominations that barely resemble proper humans, therefore, justifying the immense hate generated towards them in the first place.

You could say, anon, you have no reason for being so bothered over a video game but you don't fuck with the lore like that.
