The only correct patrician taste is

MGS2 > MGS1 > MGS3 > MGS4 > shit > MGSV

MGS2 is the best MGS with timeless story applicable to this day and direct message to the player. It was a perfect ruse, you either understand and love it or dislike it, there is no between.

MGS1 is another perfect game that preceeds MGS2 and the experience of playing it on PSX and then playing MGS2 at the beginning of this millenium is something that may never be recreated.

MGS3 is a great game but it's mainly a piece created for mocking those who didn't get and can't enjoy the artistic merit of 2. It's basically what average crying Joe expected from sequel to MGS1 and Kojima laughing at this fan fantasy is not even subtle.

MGS4 is ruined by overly long cutscenes but still retains some of the qualities of previous games that V does not.

MGSV has great control of the main character but empty world with nothing but uninspired respawning outposts, story that is told instead of being shown, no bosses and no interiors. It's lacking most of what people enjoyed about the franchise and serves only for you feel it too don't you.

Because that is one of the most intense stealth in the entire series. you have to be hella patient to get through it and it can take 30 mins if you don't know where to go

I don't think MGS4 is top tier but it's indeed still a true MGS game while MGSV is not. MGS4 has bosses and while they don't have character development with you, they still have unique backstories and unique events. MGS4 has interiors that are common to the franchise and while some may be bad, they are still an important part of the franchise V is missing. MGS4 has important story happening on the screen and not on tapes.

MGSV is like Dead Space 3, worse even. Bad writing, bland characters, shift of gameplay elements alienating the fans, and as with Dead Space 3 great character controls and updated graphics but those won't make the gameplay or the game in its entirety great or even good.

I played 4 over the course of a single day and thought it was an awful mess.
