Reminds me of the time my mother was first introduced to Mexican cuisine, around about 2005. She put mince (a Scottish/Northern English/Northern Irish word for ground beef, which is usually boiled in gravy) instead of skillet cooked ground beef you're supposed to put into it.

Was disgusting. Taco shells became soggy with gravy, and it didn't help that my mum had put lettuce and tomato on top of it because the packet had suggested it.
>>
>Sports Direct
I remember buying like six pairs of shoes there when I on vacation in the U.K. since prices there are half it is here.

I haven't been to Game since I quit WoW in 2009 to buy pre-paid game cards since no matter where you buy them here are equally expensive and Game was just convenient for me since they were on the way home.
I still have their bonus card from 2007 in my wallet though.

Heads up to non bongs. Game is GameStop with extra fucked up game cases, consoles, discs and useless staff.

Games are look like they have been wiped across razor sharp glass 75% time.

Consoles are not checked properly, I sold a console banned PS3 to them years ago. They will try to justify selling banged up consoles with missing parts because as Todd says " it just works".

Staff know fuck all about gaming, they usually employ the hipster dude bro crowd so getting opinions on a purchase are stupid. I had a staff member recommend me Halo ODST over 3 because the streets looked more futuristic and it has cool lighting.

Could go on, cba. I hope game dies.

GAME in australia went bankrupt and dissolved a few years ago. They got bought out by EB games/gamestop who sold all customer info too marketing companies.

I worked for them for 5 years. I started out working for Gamestation (It was the glory days) then they were brought out by GAME and so we were forced to change into hard salespeople. We still had fun as an all ex-gamestation staffed shop, I was also working there when it first went bankrupt. Some people were real fucking assholes as they all just waited for the price of games to reduce.

Needless to say the best two weeks of my working life, I got paid to play my old Dreamcast with my work friends while some kinds watched us fuck around. No shits were given, it was amazing.

GAME have been tying to save themselves for a long time, sticking their fingers in as many pies as possible (gaming clothing, PC components, Mobile phones).

I actually feel sorry for the fuckers still working for them under this massive bellend. 0 hour contracts and slave labour anyone?

>>
>>383791920
That's not necessarily true. In fact there are lots of "activist hedge funds" that do this as their main biz. The idea is to wrest enough control from a board that is failing to run it well, and to turn the co. around. This often means making unpopular or unpalatable decisions, either with the ownership or with the customers or the employees, but anything is better than folding and killing all those jobs and narrowing the customer's choices.

This deal is not by a fund, but if Mike's better at running a retail business and can apply the knowledge that has brought them success, then hopefully the stores will improve rather than just all closing down. The game is to wait until the stock is as cheap as can be before the co. has passed the point of no return...

...Or, it's Gekko shit, and they just want the inventory and customer data, and plan to sell off the store space etc. but I think this is roundabout way of making a quick buck or starting a new game retailer from the ground up.

This sounds almost exactly like my experience in the US. I worked for Gamestop for 5 years, starting just after they had bought my local EB. It took a while to change the signs and the business of the store was more or less unchanged. But not for long.

I think that all these retailers hit a wall around the same time, starting with Amazon and then digital stores. The sales pressure, the rollbacks on customer service, the hellsent stocking practices and the pivot to the gift-shop made it a place to hate and drove away all the good (EB) employees and also the good customers. Since they are all struggling now, I wonder if they are kicking themselves for trying so hard to keep up with online retail by shitting on all the reasons a person would choose to shop at an actual store. I wonder if these practices actually bought them any survival time or if they are what ultimately did them in -- all I know for sure is that they haven't wanted me as a customer for years, which is fucking bizarro, because I spend way more money on games than the customers they DO want.
>>
>>383796659
Most gamecube games at my local one go for under £30, the only exceptions would be Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Paper Mario TTYD and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, but there's stuff like Pokemon Colosseum, Box and Super Mario Sunshine that are less than £20 and Soul Calibur 2 or Sonic Adventure 2 Battle that aren't even a tenner.
Then again my local one is the one in Bristol and when I lived in London things were more pricey
>>
>>383790784
my local CeX is fucking awful, it's tiny, it stinks, it's overpriced and the music is so loud you can't even hear what the staff are saying when you buy something
Not that Game is any better, their Minecraft section is bigger than their sections for any current consoles and in all the windows they only have mobile phones on display, you wouldn't know it was a game shop if it wasn't called Game
