Download morrowind fps optimizer, that properly supports modern resolutions. It also allows you to adjust draw distance/fog with your mousewheel so you can see farther than you usually would in the vanilla game, it can be a big help when it comes to navigating.

No other mods aside from that are really necessary IMO, been playing it with that lately and enjoying it a great deal. I do suggest that you read up on how exactly leveling and attribute increases work, and maybe read up on creating good custom classes because the default ones are garbage.

It's not though. They are entirely different games. Morrowind is an actual RPG while Skyrim is an action game with RPG elements lazily slapped on to excuse it's poor combat.

Also don't listen to these guys, the combat is designed around the fact that your chance to hit is calculated around your skill and attributes, removing that element makes the game easier and takes out elements of character building.
