How the fuck do you do these two inputs on a controller?

especially the half circle thing, my character just keeps fucking jumping. Can you do it the the directional keys instead? This shit is hard

please help
>>
this might be why people get fight sticks for these games
>>
Practice nigga, you'll get used to it.
>>
Google it
>>
>>383776797
Also use the D-pad not the analog.
>>
>>383776630
>play arcades, can do all moves
>play console version, struggle on pad
>get "arcade joystick", keep jumping all over
>go back to arcade, it just works
>>
These inputs are like that because the devs are in cahoots with the fighting stick industry, I don't wanna have to buy proprietary hardware to enjoy my games.
>>
Same input but start with either the right or down directional pad depending on the motion.
>>
Don't push the stick higher than it needs to.

Make training show your inputs, if you're going up and right then you're going too far.

Unless this is bait, in that case gitgudo
>>
>it's a /v/ can't play fighting games thread
>>
>>383776630
You press forward, then do a bit of a hadoken.
You do a hadoken twice quickly.
I play on a normal controller, and find the dpad easier to use over the analog stick, but both can be used.
>>
you do it fast as fuck or give yourself some input buffer
>>
>>383776887
You don't need an arcade stick, some of the best fighting game players use gamepads.
>>
>>383776630
>the half circle thing, my character just keeps fucking jumping
Don't touch "up" direction.

I'm struggling with some directions as well desu. My worst inputs are microdash dragon punch (6623), and IAD mixed with TK moves.
>>
>>383777070
Ah yes, some of the world's greatest fighting games like
And who could forget which revolutionized the genre.
>>
The games are designed to be played with an arcade stick. You can use controller, but it's awkward.
>>
>>383777305
Sure, you are limiting yourself if you use a controller but skill still far outweighs it. It's more about comfort and muscle memory. Anyone who learned to play on a pad will have a hard time transitioning to a stick, but the advantage a stick brings is that it's easier to perform on and improve with.
>>
>>383777531
That's fair. You certainly can compete with a gamepad. It still needs to be said that your maximum potential is lower on one, however.

You'll only jump if your control stick is going above the middle position. Just make sure you don't go above the middle. If you jump that means you're going too high.

For the first one, you want to walk forward, then crouch, then hold diagonal down and forward. None of that should make you jump.

For the second one you crouch, then walk forward, then crouch, then walk forward, then punch. You need to do that all pretty fast to get the move out
>>
how the fuck do you post a troll thread on 4chan?
>>
>>383776868
your stick probably has a really shit lever. Most sticks outside of the $200+ ones have shitty levers/switches even if the buttons are decent.
If you aren't squeamish about a little light soldering, you can give your home stick a huge upgrade by installing a new lever.
>>
What i want to know is how do i do 360 moves with a keyboard.
>>
>>383778229
I've never tried but I bet you could do it the same way as you could on a hitbox.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaZIHAmmOR0
>>
>>383778229

you just do all the inputs as fast as you can.

360's are easier to do on keyboard and hitbox than they are on anything else.
>>
>>383778229
My friend plays grapplers on hitbox. When he was playing KB, he mapped jump to space
A, S, D, Space or D, S, A, Space.
>>
>>383778626
>>383778671
>>383778774
Well that explains why i keep fucking up all these years, i tried to do a real 360 instead of just pressing the main directions.
>>
>>383776630
The first is literally a figure Z. That is the easiest thing ever.

>>>383776630
>half circle

That's a quarter circle. Just down, forward, button.

also...check em

>>383779364

Best in what way? He's weak as fuck and his gameplay is extremely barebones compared to most of the cast. Just the aesthetic?

to be fair the z is not a good way to show a dragon punch motion

I remember not understanding it as a kid/teenager, but now it seems so obvious.
If they marked 9 little dots around the red circle corresponding to the directionals, the Z and what it connects across would make much more intuitive sense to those unfamiliar, sorta like pic related, maybe with better color indicators or something.
>>
>>383780613
The best way to visualize it is to look on your numpad block on keyboard, dragon punch is 623. But with how lenient most current fighters are in inputs you can pretty much roll your thumb from forward to down and back fast and you will get your dirty dp input.
>>
>>383781328
It's Right, Down, Down Righ in terms of actual inputs.
I actually think the Z shape is more explanatory though as long as you're using a stick. If you're playing with the D-Pad, the Z-image is complete nonsense.
>>
>>383776630
I play on controller and its easy af, I pull these off consistently even in the stricter games like ST.
>>
>>383778217
Unless you're using something really cheap it should just use a standard 5 pin connector. No soldering required.
>>
>>383779961
he has swag going on nigga
>>
>>383783390

Hell yeah dude. I love fedoras and trenchcoats.
>>
>>383779364
can't deny that, you're 100% right

fuck you
who the fuck doesn't like androids with trench coats, iron masks and led eyes?

there's chances he'll be in season3/SSFV, right?
please tell me we'll see him again
>>
>>383783685
>wanting to be monkey pawed this hard

You better wish we won't see him in 5 anon, not after what capcom did with juri and ibuki.
>>
>>383776630
Nigga, if you can't do a fireball motion then try a charge character instead
>>
>>383777643
>maximum potential is lower on one, however.
but top players win tourneys using pads.
>>
>>383785167
That's more of an exception and really surfaced only in SFV, unless you mean netherealm shit or KI.

Why can't White people play fighting games? All their "superiority" goes right out the window when presented with having to do a hadoken in street fighter.
>>
>>383785947
louffy won evo 13 or smth with rose on a ps2 pad.

if anything pads are superior to sticks due to less time/effort required to do movements

DP is just forward down forward
>>

1st one is forward down and down-forward
you can do a forward then qcf.

send is just double qcf

you'll get used to it, also stop being fucking bad.

after years i can finally standing 720 in 3s

>>
>>383786117
There are like 3-5 people that actually can compete on pads. It is viable, sure, and it all comes down to personal preference, but pads are a lot more wonky and far, far less clean as far as inputs go than sticks.
>>
>>383786117
ps1 pad actually

Half-circles and SPDs are easier on a controller.
>>
>>383785947
It's not. The arguably two best american players both use pad. It has advantages for movement since you need smaller motions and people can't listen to button presses.
It's hitbox > pad > stick.
>>
>>383776630

This is what's wrong with fighting games in a nutshell.
>>
Try to do that motion multiple times really fast. Eventually you'll get it.
>>
>>383787310
How are you doing your half circles? Once I understood to let the stick spring back to neutral from the corner and it will hit the middle directional on the way back, it became really reliable to do my 632146's fast and fluid without accidentally jumping or missing the input.
>>
>>383776630
>Z-Shape
forward, down, forward
>Quarter Circle
down, forward
>>
>>383787768
Just do a 360 or five in a row, just don't end on an upward direction.
>>
>>383787350
>2
>out of how many the fuck people playing on pads
>most people in top 16 or even 32 in any big tournament still uses sticks
That's like definition of exception, anon

As far as movement goes you do need smaller motions but your input must be far more precise because of the nature of the pad and how dirty your inputs can be. Pads also makes advanced button technique like plinking really hard, if not outright impossible, to execute. It is less relevant in SFV, but still.
>>
>>383787874
Well I know that, but I'm talking about when using it raw on reaction. I'll be lazy with inputs when I can buffer.
>>
>>383784921
The Super Yan school of thought
>>
>>383787310
It's true, in fact almost everyone who could do unbuffered 720's in SF4 used pads.
>>
>>383787897
Hotashi plays Elphelt in GGxrd. I'm wondering if aiming with the rifle makes more sense to him on pad, and he can execute everything else just fine.
>>
>>383787184

Guilty Gear is all about characters being extremely different.
>>
>>383787986
It depends on the game and whether or not you're onling TBQH senpai. Just mash it out if you're doing a reversal. Otherwise delay it and get used to the timing to be in the back position on wakeup.
>>
>>383787897
Because that's an arcade culture thing and people are used to it, not because it's a better input device. Also those were just examples. You don't plink shit in SF5 expect jf tenko and look at that, the best Karin player plays on pad.
Sorry man, but you can play fighting games on pad just fine, no excuses.
>>
>>383788123
>tfw you want to play Johnny but are too much of a scrub so play Ky
>>
>>383789410
Haha don't worry man we've all been there, but there's nothing more satisfying than working with a character and finally pulling shit off and kicking people's ass
>>
>>383789570
I'm quite bad and always will be sadly, I have some fucky hands so it makes it even more difficult
