Torb's turret is an example of something that's supposed to do this but doesn't because it's pretty garbage. If people were actually afraid of it it would be a great defensive tool that wouldn't necessarily have to kill people to serve a purpose.

I'm saying defenders SHOULD have better damage than attackers. Otherwise, there's no need to fear attacking them. It sounds strange, giving "attackers" better defense and "defenders" better attack, but hear me out.

Attackers are all about breaking enemy lines. In order to do that, they either need to flank, resist/heal damage, or a combination of both. Most characters DO have a mix of both. Tracer, for example, has blinks to help her flank, and recall to help her escape or cancel damage.

Defenders, on the other hand, are all about keeping people away from a specific place. And the only way to do that is to kill them. Widowmaker is a classic example - her playstyle suits protecting a small area, and her rifle does great damage.

The problem is that Blizzard apparently decided that Offense and Defense characters should have similar health and damage, so now the only difference between them is "these guys are mobile" and "these guys are not mobile". And in a shooter game it's obvious which group is going to win.
