Does anyone else prefer New Vegas over any other Fallout game?

I thought Fallout 3 was okay, and Fallout 4 was also just okay, but I always end up going back to playing New Vegas at least once a year.

And no, I don't side with Mr. House everytime
>>
I can see arguments made for it being a higher quality, but I find myself going back and playing Fallout 4 far more often. A big part of that is the town building, and it's addictive making dystopian post-apocalyptic trade hubs and Thunderdomes. Also, it's fun flying around on Vertibirds or making you own custom Power Armor and robot slaves.

Wl2 is the best fo game.

Yep, Better factions! and story plot..

tired of the whole Get the Geck or Find your family member narrative in The Franchise.
>>
>>383758168
Of course, only an actual retard would think otherwise.

The list goes NV >= Fo2 = FoT > Fo1 > Fo3 > Fo4
>>
>>383759136
You mean you don't want Falllout 5 to have the gripping narrative of being a vault dweller who's searching for their family member who turns out to be a scientist working to purify the wasteland?

And then months later play the brand new original DLC where you go to a faraway island to search for someones missing daughter, all while battling a cult?
>>
I've played NV the most.

I really like the classics but Fallout 1 completely falls apart on subsequent playthroughs. Fallout 2 is a bit better with the SPECIAL rebalances, but not by much.

No...
>>
>>383759521
Like, I'm positive the similarities are 100% accidental because Bethesda is just THAT incompetent, but god damn.
>>
>>383759727
I'm surprised that after all these years no one has made an infinite time mod for 1&2.
>>
>>383759865
Or they're just lazy..
>>
>>383760042
Bethesda isn't lazy, they just didn't give any thought to the framework of the stories.
>>
>>383759865
>>383760042

Neither, they're greedy. They ask themselves, "what sold well?" Oh people bought fallout 3 and point lookout. I bet if we make the same exact fucking thing it will sell well too!

Its disgusting and clearly exhibits the death of an industry, but far harbor did end up bing the best fo4 dlc...

Yeah because Fallout 4 story, was well thought out man.. totally not a cluster fuck of mish mash.
>>
>>383758748
A lot of this. I'm finding myself still playing FO4 for the gameplay and the settlement stuff mostly, that and the mostly decent mods that have come out for it. Plus, that it looks breddy gud.

New Vegas though, man. I just did the quest "One For My Baby", jesus. I love a game that doesnt always have happy endings for everyone. That shit is what is keeping me up right now even.
>>
>>383761130
Is 1 or 2 even worth playing in 2017?

Being serious here, I wouldn't have any nostalgic attachment obviously so I want to know if it holds up to today's standards
>>
>>383761042
Not to mention Pay for Mods Todd..
>>
>>383761707
Yes.
IMO the inventory system is the only dated thing about it.
>>
>>383761707
They are pretty fun, I would say at least playthrough them once.
>>
>>383758168
Yes, infact I'm currently playing through a tale of two wastelands, making things nice and hard for myself by running jsawyer & project nevada and I honestly cant wait to get to the mojave.
currently level 22 and helped pops with the water project, just tying up a few loose ends and contemplating doing anchorage/enclave shit.
I feel the way you do about the other games. It will likely be the death of the series if NO truly is cancelled and obsidian doesnt get another crack at the franchise.
>>
>>383761707
For the story, yes. Still interesting

Gameplay is painful at times. Especially in late game of fallout 2 if you have zero clue how to spec your character.
It's really unbalanced overall, can be frustrating to new players
>>
>>383761707
Yes. Play fonline reloaded too when you're comfortable with both. Probably the best implementation of open world pvp ive seen in an mmo
>>
>>383761042
If yhat was their mentality, then why didn't they promote those parts of tne game more?
>>
I picked up 3, 4, and New Vegas from the last Steam Sale.

Should I play in release order?
>>
>>383761707
yes, you fucking faggot, but I get the feeling you're a pleb shit that is just going to complain after spending 30 min trying to figure out the basics.
>>
I had fun with NV for a while but not as much as every other (except 4), I even liked tactics. The game play is improved from 3 but every town is shit after good springs, the path feels really linear, the strip was a HUGE letdown, and the story and factions really aren´t as great as /v/ makes it to be.
>>
>>383761958
He should know enough as a fallout player. As long as you specialize (including at least 1 combat skill) instead of being a jack of all trades you'll be fine.
>>
>>383761932
Obsidian will never touch Fallout again - most likely out of sheer spite on bethesda's part, if anything.
>>
>>383759703
nobody cares
>>
>>383762126
>3, 4, NV
if you can play bad games and still enjoy them
>NV,3,4
if you can't get enough of the new FO
>NV, 1, 2
if you actually enjoy cRPG games
>>
>>383762126
doesn't matter in what order, play NV first.
>>
>>383762260
or because they realize that, while nv is a big step up, its more profitable to make a low effort garbage game without help and it will sell because it says bethesda and fallout
>>
>>383762447
Yeah, best to get the worst one out of the way first :^)

I hope Obsidian does F5 or their own spin with a New California Fallout.. deal, it would be great.

Bethesda are such cocksuckers, it's obvious Obsidian is better with writing plots and narratives.
>>
>>383762387
I think it's more impressive that no one addresses the pol bait image. So many fags complain about NV threads, but they actively ignore the shit posting attempt and somehow talk about fucking video games.

Bethesda actually doesnt hate Obsidian, believe it or not they wanted to buy them so they could work on Fallout, but they said no and now the series is fucked until Vethesda figures out what they're supposed to do with it.
>>
for a game with the core themes of letting go/not getting too attached to the past, y’all are hell bent on not moving on from new vegas huh

Is going with Mr. House the canon path?
>>
>>383759703

>>
>>383765446
id think that the NCR is the canon path, just sounds like the lore safe choice
>>
>>383764850
It's the exact same as the Todd Howard meme

its dumb but people get a giggle out of seeing that face and the caption associated with it
>>
>>383762229
>the path feels really linear
People always say this, but only because the game shows you the easiest road. It's far from the fastest or most interesting, it's like the tutorial road.

You even get access to an early stealth boy in order to facilitate going straight to the strip.

>>
>>383766126
The entire game is about New Vegas and House is the only option excluding yes man that focuses the most on New Vegas and its success.
The way the game is set out ends up with you first getting involved in the major conflict of the game with Mr House so I would argue house is the cannon ending
>>
>>383758168
New Vegas is fantastic. But you should play the first two installments in the series, they're even better (in my opinion)
The really nailed it with those two, the turn based combat is cool, the sense of direction isn't as straightforward either, so you have to much more searching and talk to a lot more NPCs than you normally would in 3, NV, or 4. Really feels like how an RPG truly should be.
>>
>>383759703
Your point?

Just play NV. If you really want more then play 3, realize it needs iron sights, mod it, then play it. Do not play Fallout 4. Sorry to tell you you wasted your money on that one.

It's /pol/ thinking they're sticking to 'the man', and 'the man' in this case is people who make Trump cry.

Of course they'd forget Colbert has his own brand.
