What are some moments in video games that truly shake you to the core?
I'm not sure why, but warning screens in old games fuck me up. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0bHrfPa7uo
In recent memory, when [Persona 5 spoiler]Akechi kills you.

WHY DID I READ IT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! FUCKING MOUSE!
>>383758043
DON'T FUCKING POST THIS PICTURE AGAIN
>>383758572
just forget about it and keep playing the game, it has multiple endings
>>383758043
My dream is fucking a girl while she just stares at me like that, just looking at me in the eyeswithout any hint of emotion.
In fact, i'm going to jack it to this pic, thanks OP.
>>383758397Oh man, I forgot about that fakeout. Had me sitting there wondering how the fuck I got the bad ending.
>>383758043
Playing this on ps1 with low battery, no idea where im going

Believed to be a woman named Misty Taylor. She's tied in with some disappearance case.
>>383758043
In Dead Space there's a part where you go back to the bridge and there's this weird tall enemy that makes this howling/moaning sound that you hear before you see. I actually got chills the first time I played this part.
>playing stronghold late at night
>hear something crack in the wall (probably just the AC)
>kind of spooped
>pause the game to listen
>"it's getting late sire! Aren't you tired?"
>>383760690
This scared the shit out of me too. It was on the surface of the planet right? Scariest part of the game because that creature is so different compared to everything else in the game
>>383760690
Any chance you can find a video clip? I dont remember ever seeing that when I played through.

This makes me want to play Dead Space. I have it in my library, but haven't played it yet
>>383762028
My virus detector just blocked something. What the fuck is going on?
You know what's pretty spooky? Seeing the empty shell of a profile page left behind by dead users.
It's even spookier to presume someone is dead when they haven't used their Steam in over a year.
>>383762028
MODS
>>383762037
The game isn't that scary aside from a few parts. However, it's got great gunplay, atmosphere, and setting if you're a fan of stuff like Event Horizon
>>383762265
I get creeped out easily by abominations like in the link, so it might give me a good scare the first time around. Might play it sometime soon
>>383762371
If you like DS1, consider picking up Dead Space 2. It picked up from DS1 pretty well in controls and tension and whatnot. And personally I say dont even bother picking up DS3.
>>383762610
Ive heard the same. Thanks tho
>>383761775
In hindsight, it's absolutely freakish how something so gaunt and made up of tiny interlocking parts can produce such a hideous sound.
>>383758043
That bass cranked up to eleven is overshadowing the other instruments.
>>383760953
At least the death screen music is soothing
>>383762028
really
fuck YOU

Even when you have top gear and know the map 100% I cant avoid getting spooked all the time.
>>383760435
what the fuck
my computer literally stop for a half second on mouse over
>Objective: Survive
>You can't.
I don't know what it is, but it can make for a very poignant ending when done right. I tend to remember them the most because they're so different than how most games end.
When you're deep in a dungeon and the named is about to spawn and a known pker popped up on /who

What makes this image unnerving?
I know that the face looks flat, and everything on it looks like it was cut and pasted, but is there any specific psychological reason behind it? Kinda like with that black and white sketch of some guy with a hood.

Everyone spooked by this image should never go to Finland
>>383771319
That was the first thing I thought of upon seeing the image.
>>383762028
I don't get it
>silhouettes of cockroaches crawling on your screen when you go insane in Amnesia
>>383771770
People here give a lot of shit to Amnesia but back then I thought it was mindblowing
>>383771770
>Daniel grinding his teeth when his sanity drops
>>383772150
Is that what that sound is? I always thought it sounded like cracking glass, like his sanity is shattering in his head.
>>383758043
>Minerva looks straight at the camera, almost as if she was looking straight into the player's eyes
>Ezio freaks out wondering who the fuck she's talking to
The ending to this game was a real fucking trip. It scared the shit out of me back then, and it felt like she was telling the player themselves that they have to save the world IRL before 2012 rolls around and the sun cooks us all.
Turns out she was really just talking to Desmond.

the first time you see that enormous walking monster in 'the suffering'
i forgot how you came to know it was out there walking around, but then suddenly youre outside and could totally be killed by it. im sure im building it up more in my head but it was tense!
>>383771936
>back then
wasn't that long ago.
>>383772440
>beat up the pope
>some spooky ancient ghost alien tells you to save the world out of nowhere
This game's ending was weird as shit and I loved it.
>>383772440
This.
Also pic related. Came out of nowhere and I was playing with earphones at 2 in the morning. *Phoenix Wright spoiler*

Claiming 7 years is "not that long" is dumb, it's enough time for a 11-year old to become legally an adult
>>383772979
7 years...one console generation. the people here are gamers, and unless youre of the older demographic most enthusiasts own/enjoy/play games that are older than them.
ff7 for example.
