Grimoire got me hyped for these types of games, but it looks like Grimoire isn't coming out any time soon. So i was looking for a similar alternative.

Because Wizardry is pretty much the same game throughout the series. Not to mention all the nip ones.

1,2,3 and 5 are what you would expect if you've played etrian odyssey/class of heroes etc
4 is basically a complete flip of rpg conventions
6 and 7 share some similarities with the earlier ones but are more open (as in open world) and not just confined to town and dungeons
8 is the same idea but with many things changed especially the battle systems and fully 3d world, voice acting etc

Wizardry 7 was crazy difficult and also really great.
I have no experience with it's predecessor but maybe play 6 beforehand for the complete Savant experience. It should take you a while to beat them.

I think everyone can agree that Wiz 4 is the most bullshit game ever.
I have Wiz 1-3 on the NES and Snes. But comparing EO and Class of Heroes is a bit of a stretch. Those games have more options and classes.
I wasn't a big fan of Wiz 8.
