Born in 93, I remember the first video game I ever saw was Super Mario Bros 2. My Dad worked on computers at a refinery so I remember him coming home late one night and he was playing the first level as Luigi on a NESticle emulator. I think everyone else was in bed because the only other light on was a lamp, but he let me watch for a bit before I had to go to bed. From then on, that was the only video game "console" I had growing up (he downloaded a lot of games luckily, including those weird hacks like SMB1 with SMB3 sprites and bootlegs like Kart Fighter) until my sister got an N64 in a Toys R Us contest. I completely missed out on the SNES and Genesis. Since I had no friends, my only knowledge of their existence came from Mario fan sites I slowly discovered on my own. I think the first time I saw a PS1 was at Church where they had Tarzan and Crash Team Racing in the kids room.

I wont drop names but I still see two of them weekly and they only play minecrafty build and collect shit games and solo rpgs. I try to get them to play classic games out of my emulation collection and relive the good old days of playing together but they're not interested anymore.

The only multiplayer games they want to play is tabletop and I hate tabletop but it's the only thing they want to get together for to hang out.
