don't pick up 2x damage weapons, try to be thorough or really quick, and try not to lose your head if you get hit, most damage can be neglected if you're fast enough.

in the last build I played, getting damage upgrades automatically upgrades the enemy's damage.
health upgrades seem to be the way to go for a more calculated less glass cannony run, with the odd damage upgrade along the way
