Every other character justifies their place in the cast - even Penelo, by being both a cute and sensible. And the game even says that Vaan is Migelo's adopted son. Why not just make him his ACTUAL son? Of course the most egregious oversite is Montblanc just sitting around in the clan headquarters most of the game.

The game is almost perfect. It's SO CLOSE.
