ITT: Best Vidya Compilation collections Sonic Gems is also pretty

Being a Nintendo household my whole life, the Gamecube version was my introduction to Sonic the Hedgehog. I'd spend so many hours looking at the comic book covers, manuals, etc.

Gems had a lot of concept art and stuff but I felt it was pretty short in the games department, despite having a shitload of Game Gear games.

Marvel vs Capcom Origins was a pretty cool collection but they should've bundled the MvC2 rerelease with it as well as X-Men Children of the Atom.

That's because most of the game gear games are absolutely nothing special and really the only things it had going for it were R, The Fighters and CD.

Granted those are all cool ass games (I dont' care what anybody says R is a guilty pleasure and The Fighters is straight up the most underrated sonic title out there) but that can't really compete with all the non-CD mainline sonic games from the genesis era that mega collection had.

There was licensing issues with CotA and they lost the MVC2 license ages ago, it's a shame really.

Same here man, I was exclusively Nintendo until I got a PSP in 2006 and an Xbox 360 in 2007.

Sonic Jam is better. Better controller, more options, better presentation, cool extras. The only thing Mega Collection does better is the fact that it has the spin-offs like Spinball and 3D Blast. But honestly, who cares.

Yeah but it's something you'll never experience unless you pay $200+ for a Saturn and Sonic Jam. It's bonuses were never put on anything else either.

Not an excuse. Use the PC ports codes. They used it for Sonic R and CD.

Mega collection would be near perfect EXCEPT for the fact that you have to do like +120 off all the games combined to unlock everything.

I never tried out Jam but I always thought it was cool how they implemented that 3D hub world that helped to influence the design of Sonic Adventure.
I wonder why they'll never port it? It seems like a pretty important game in retrospect.

I did play more S3&K since i never owned 3 before Jam, just &Knuckles part.
Playing Sonic 1 with spindash was different, but felt great.
Sonic 2 played on that Sonic Compilation for the Mega Drive, with Sonic 1 and MBM
