You can, but how are you gonna get in with no money? Or weapons? What are you going to fight him with? A Varmint Rifle? Vault 21 clothing? 2 Stimpaks? A better criticism (of the entire franchise) would be why the fuck are bottle caps considered the de facto currency in the games. In a post apocalyptic world people would just trade with the whatever items they have (guns, chems, food, etc.) and if they used some sort of money it would gold/silver/copper coins since they're made of precious minerals. Bottle caps are just made of worthless metal. Well not really worthless but you get my point. New printed bills could be used as well if created by a government (NCR) or a private company (like a bank) that managed to convince people to use them. Although they probably would have to tie the new currency to gold or silver.

New Vegas has literally 2 or 3 minutes of "tutorial", you can skip 90% of it by telling the girl you don't want tutorial quests. You just have to spam through the doctor's 2 minutes of dialogue and you're done. Compare it to FO3 where you must "grow up" and go through tons of shit before the game actually begins.

The game is older now, but for an older game it's fantastic. The aiming is wonky because ALL aiming was wonky back then, and player speed is low because that's how it fucking was (you can use a speedmult setting to make yourself faster in-game).

There are entire questlines about this question in the series. Even a newfag should have played enough of New Vegas to get to the counterfeit questline, where the game explains how counterfeiting is normally never done but possible. Bottlecaps existed everywhere, unlike gold and silver. If gold was the currency suddenly anyone living near a place they can scavange gold is rich and everyone else has literally no money, with caps anyone can find money anywhere with enough scavenging work. It also encourages scavenging in general, you might find stuff useful for survival and trade while looking in an office building for caps, but you sure as hell won't be finding gold in every office building.
