Dirty Bomb has had a stable playerbase since it's launch.
Now I know Splash Damage makes good games but this is the first game I would assume that it would flop hard, like Battleborn and soon LawBreakers.
How?
Plenty of people left it but new people keep coming in due to it being free. Also, the devs do a good job at looking busy by acknowledging problems in their weekly update videos without actually doing much anything about them.Someone should make a /dbg/ on /vg/ again.

There was still "pro championships" of Wolfenstein Enemy Territory back in 2014. I imagine if the servers weren't down and the graphics updated, people would still play Quakewars ET too.
Splash found an addictive multiplayer formula, enough to support a few thousand playerbase, simple as that. Problem with Brink was it didn't have that formula so thats their most spectacular failure so far.
It's quite a good game. I only played it for a while. From the start until they added the invisible guy. Quite enjoyed my time. Proxy a best.
