not only that but the private servers tend to only get played by autismal min-maxers that know everything in and out and expect everyone else around them to be just as informed as they are, everyone knows the fastest questing route and even if they don't they'll notice the pattern in everyone else's behaviour

It was a fad mostly motivated by twitch streamers that was shortly abandoned after it was collectively realized that WoW isn't fun in any form.
