I also live in a rural, woodsy area and my friends lived far away, impossible to see without an adult driving me in a car. Put those two things together and you have me, a 23 year old with no real life friends whatsoever. I haven't talked to a girl outside of school/work that I haven't met on the internet in six years. I'm not ever going to let my child touch a gaming PC if I ever have one. Gaming PCs are adults and it took me this long in my life to understand that. It's literally so good that you'll retreat almost entirely inwards to the computer and internet friends that you give up on real life and forget about it. Let fifteen years pass and your sweet internet female friends all get college boyfriends and never speak to you again and your male friends move on with life and have actual accomplishments and families under your belt and you're left with nothing but a giant steam library and memories of a dead MMO nobody plays anymore.

I'm 25 and I grew up with snes, genesis, gbc, n64, ps1, gba, ganecube, ps2, ds and 360 was the last system I bought. my parents had no problem letting me play a lot and using a mic. it's actually really fucking weird that they wouldn't let you... but anyway, my parents were kind of fags and never let me have M-rated games until I was like 16, and even then they wouldn't let me get GTA IV. But I still played the fuck out of M-rated games because I'd get them from friend's parents or play them at their house.

Easy to say when youre 18, baby poster. My best friend who I've known for 15 years has a wife and baby on the way, he's travelling the world and all I can talk to him about is video games. I can't even face him anymore. Every girl I knew growing up met Chad in college and I feel more left behind than ever. The PC gaming life can't end in anything but suicide if it hooks you when you're young. I've literally spent over ten thousand hours of my life on PC gaming. Not counting the time I spent sleeping I've wasted years of my childhood when I was free of responsibility and girls weren't cunts yet.

You're the one being a whiny baby. I'm 24 and I've played countless games on PC and console, watched more anime than I can count and fucked around with people on the internet late into nights for god knows how long. But I don't consider those hours wasted. Not everyone wants the same things in life. I too have friends that have moved on and that's fine. If you feel really bad about your position then just stop and find another hobby. It won't be easy but at least you can do something about it. It's a lot easier than say, having a facial stucture that makes you look hideous for life, having chronic unexplainable depression or not being able to afford shelter, food and internet.

Why didn't you try meeting up with your online friends if you were so close to them anyway?
