The stigma of games being for kids, makes adults also get looks when playing games. The stigma is dying and will because adults at their late 20s already grew up with videogame consoles and much already have a ps4 or ps3 at least. The new generation of kids that were born with tablets in their hands will pretty much kill the stigma since they already are watching adults play games on youtube and twitch.

You don't seem to realize how data like this is compiled. They take a survey and the average is based off that sample. A sample doesn't need to be big to be considered "representative" of the whole. There's also a big issue with response bias. What if the I want to know how many people on average enjoy taking surveys? I will probably get innaccurately high positive responses because people that enjoy doing it are more likely to answer. Theoretically, researchers should take that into account when preparing statistics, but if I'm a lazy grad student just looking to throw shit together amd get my degree, I will only do that as much as my professors force me to.

If you need evidence the methodology is flawed, it states that it lumps board games in with video games. A single game of monopoly played once a week will count the same as someone who simply plays on his phone during a commute every single day. Those two are not equal in a single meaningful way.
