I can't speak for playstation, but Xbox achievements were easily hackable back on the 360. Not to mention the amount of people who played shit/piss-easy games that handed out gamerscore like candy just for their epeen. It made anything besides specific achievements in certain games meaningless

I personally like trophies more than achievements because of the platinum ones. On xbox it's just 1000/1000 and that's it.

There is one clear difference:

You have a "Gamer"score on X Box and a Score level on Psn.
Its madewith achievements you earn through games you played.
The only score you have on Steam is a level system that builds up upon buying badges.

You cant collect a badge of a game without buying it.
Steam has achievements but they dont raise your score only real money does it.

Actually one of the good things of Xbox One was to server check every achievement or it won't unlock. The system won't just upload anything from a profile anymore. This actually caused a lot of problems early when they revert back on always online but it is good now.
