I usually stop talking mid-sentence when someone is doing shit like this when I'm speaking. I make it a point to listen to and focus acutely on the person and what they're talking about, this kind of shit here is just plain rude.

Worst thing about it was that it turned out so-and-so never did actually borrow it and my "friend" was a lying prick.

His mom eventually made him come to my house and give me my game back. Still never talked to him again after that, though.

I apologized to so-and-so for thinking they were a liar and told them about what happened. Turns out they were actually super cool, weren't all that mad, and we became friends.
