Some of the spinoffs like Birth by Sleep actually went back and did a few of the more classic films (like Cinderella), so there's always a chance they'll dip from the Disney Renaissance period again. I was never excited for Kingdom Hearts 3.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise is like that kid you didn't really like to hang out with ,but who your parents made you invite to your birthday sleepover, and you end up having a good time anyway the first night.

But the next day his parents never come to pick him up, and your parents ask him if he knows their phone number or his address, and the dumb little shit doesn't know how to get back to his house. Your parents resign and let him stay another awkward day, and that awkward day is Kingdom Hearts 2. You really just want him to leave, but he keeps making you play your games with him, clogs your toilet, and is generally a total brat.

Another day goes by and your parents still don't know how to get this kid home, and his parents obviously don't give a shit, so you all try to feign hospitality and have a good time (all the spinoffs), but it's just not quite as fun as the first night, and every time he opens his mouth you just wish he'd shut up, but he asks your parents if they'll order pizza again, and your parents just can't say no or it would be rude. KH is the world's worst house guest. His parents eventually come and pick him up (KH3) and they're both in thrift store wolf t-shirts, and get mad at your parents for being neglectful when the whole thing was their fault to begin with.

eh, I'd imagine it'll be at least a 50/50 mix of the 90s movies that they leaned on for the first two games and more recent movies, and it'll more than likely be weighted more towards newer stuff, or at least older stuff that hasn't been used before.

Something to remember is that Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 were made in an era where most of Disney's modern releases were shit and they hadn't bought Pixar yet, so focusing mostly on the same 90s movies made sense as those were the only good available movies that the audience was familiar with. KH3, on the other hand, is being made/released in an era where Disney not only is making movies people like again but they also own Pixar so using their IPs is also on the table, in addition to Marvel and even Star Wars being possibilities.

If anything I think the biggest issue to deal with regarding the "what IPs do we use for worlds" dilemma is that a lot of the better options all take place in modern American city/suburb-like settings, so you have to figure out how to not have a bunch of similar-looking worlds.

Alice in Wonderland has gotta be the worst for me. Fuck that place and its locust forrest.

Halloween/Christmas Town has always been my favorite. Short and sweet with lots of cool enemies. I also have a soft spot for Winnie the Pooh. I loved Winnie the Pooh as a kid and it was nice to get a break from fighting to help out that silly old bear.

This entire series was a mistake.

Disney-Final Fantasy crossover actually isn't a bad idea, but Nomura ruined it with his Nomura-ness.

It should've just been about Mickey (Fighter), Donald (White Mage), and Goofy (Black Mage) going from world to world helping out. Wonderland, Atlantica, Halloween Town, Narshe, Midgar, etc. There'd be a guest party member from each world.

Something simple like that.
