AB was supposed to introduce a new faction called the Forge.

It had a sci-fi theme (zombie cyborgs and naga mechs ) and already existed in the M&M universe, but some neckbeards cried out loud because "muh fantasy".

Worse, the devs even received death threats to the point they had to scrap the whole thing and replace it with the shitshow that was Conflux.

Might and Magic (the RPG series) is science fiction game in disguise. The Inferno faction are actually aliens. There's also a bunch of dimensional travel and other shit.

Heroes dropped this for a more "pure" fantasy, but there's some leftovers.

The Forge didn't exist anywhere before that expansion. The whole cyber-zombie shit was completely retarded even by MM standards. It was going to be a poor man's WH40K ripoff, not the long awaited inclusion of MM-style science fiction.
