That's because it can't work. Its a class that does what every other class does but worse, and as the team fills out you'll eventually be pushed into doing a role the team is most lacking in, at which point picking the class dedicated to that specific role would benefit the team much more anyway.

6v6 on 4 waves. Human players play normally, ZED players wait in line to spawn as the Elite variants of the normal ZEDs(those glowing ZEDs you see on Suicidal and higher difficulty) and try to kill the humans. Its extremely human sided until you get to the boss wave which is extremely ZED sided because while one player is chosen to be the Patriarch, the other 5 will be constantly spawning as elite ZEDs and wittle down the humans over time.

I've had issues where the game will freeze right before I enter a PvP match, and it only happens for PvP. I hear changing the search settings to only search for games that haven't started yet helps so you might want to try that. And if you're in the US, I find the US West server is much more active than East or Central.

It's not for everyone. Depends on the games you like.

If so, hell yes. I have ~700 hours in KF2 just because I have so much fun mass-genociding zeds over and over. I hardly get bored of it.

It plays very differently. Whereas in KF1 it was all about managing the ZEDs before they got to you, in KF2 its all about managing the ZEDs that do get to you. Where in KF1 you're expected to die if ZEDs reach you because they do a bunch of damage, in KF2 the ZEDs are tougher but deal less damage, and its all about managing the threats to your team and target prioritizing, as well as making sure you don't suffer TOO much damage.

In that regard your own health is a resource to be managed, in that you can ignore a ZED or two nibbling at you for a time if you absolutely need to focus on something else, and Medics are really OP in the sense that they completely negate that management altogether as you'll be constantly healed.

Also the game is overall more polished, ZEDs are more dangerous because they gain new animations and speed that makes them harder to headshot as well as new abilities, but on the upside the perks themselves work the same way, where ZED health doesn't go up beyond Hard difficulty and neither does perk damage all that much, what makes the perks more valuable are the skills they get every 5 levels that can change the way they're played.

Also the corny horror atmosphere of the first game is completely gone, and textures are all clean and tidy in favour of painting them red with blood as the match goes on. Someone put it this way, in KF1 there were serious characters acting goofy, and in KF2 its goofy characters acting serious.

It's always good to have. It's a fantastic gun. For the later waves it's recommended to buy it AND the AA-12 though. The auto shotgun shreds fleshpounds, which is something the double barrel can't do that well.

I use the double barrel until I'm low on ammo and then conserve some rounds to make scrakes easier to deal with then I switch to the AA-12.

Firebug is actually legit as hell on Suicidal and Hell on Earth difficulties. There is so much fucking trash that spawns it's insane, and on those difficulties the trash can receive buffs that makes them sort of threatening if you let them overwhelm you.

Firebug can melt through trash like butter. On HoE it's not uncommon for a firebug to have top kills and damage from holding chokepoints and protecting the medic/sharpie/demo

Commando by miles son.

They extend zed time for everyone in the team and can spot stalkers before they show up and wombo combo the medic to death. They also have much better damage output than SWAT.

SWAT brings nothing to the table, it's just a shittier Commando. Don't play it ever unless you need the achievements.

That's an exploit that only appeared on the PS4. I'm pretty sure they fixed those in the last patch. I believe it's one of the reasons they're delaying the summer event for PS4.

Medic is very satisfying on a good team, high difficulty.
You can give out damage and resistance buffs. Your guns slow/stumble the zeds and a well placed healing grenade can save lives.

also commando suffers on tiny maps and areas like the decent, and on average his guns ammo costs slightly more.

One commando per team.
Focus on extending zed time and assisting the team (use the hp bars, finish off big zeds). If there are 2+ commandos you risk wasting the zed time extensions.

If there already is a commando, swat is much a more effective trash cleaner.

The new lever action sharp and GS get is also really good. I would say the only downside it has is its ammo pool but its raw damage shreds anything below a husk and can nicely deal with scrakes.

Okay I got Gunslinger to 25 and Support is almost at 25 too. What are some other useful perks to level up? Do any of the characters have canon roles? I feel like some of them have more voice lines for different perks..

The ammo is also expensive for a Tier 2 (50 dosh for 10), but the damage per shot is massive, like more than double of the Winchester. Removes a Bloat's head in one go at worst.

It's even somewhat decent on Survivalist

Sharpshooter, Demolitionist, Field Medic, Berseker, Commando, and Firebug are all pretty good to varying degrees.

Stay away from Survivalist. SWAT can be okay but it doesn't bring as much to the party as the above perks.

To be a more mobile albeit less powerful Sharpshooter. They can tackle large threats and stay on the move while doing full damage, unlike the sharpie which needs to be stationary and crouched to achieve max power.

They're pretty good at kiting large zeds to death and taking out medium zeds with only a shot or two to the head.

Any advice for Firebug perks? I found that I really enjoy having a crowd control role than any other in KF2. I'm currently a level 19 Firebug, but I'm starting to become dead weight during later waves on harder difficulties. Other than getting Spitfires ASAP, I'm not sure what else I should be doing to ensure I'm well equipped to take out the trash ZEDs.

Well I like being a big zed killer. I also like (with a well coordinated team anyways) CC'ing enemies and having others on the team ruin their lives. Can play a decent medic every now and again, but I also like the idea of clearing big waves of trash too.

Pretty much everything in the game is fun to me, I just want to be an asset to the team.

Sharpshooter is THE big zed killer on HoE. You buy the railgun and if you're good with it you can handle even the craziest scrake+fp spawns if the team is good at keeping trash off you.

I already know to avoid drawing aggro from larger ZEDs unless they're already currently being handled by the Berserker or Gunslinger. I ended up having really good control with the flamethrower so I took the Ground Fires upgrade for area denial purposes. I think I'm having trouble knowing when to buy certain weapons.

I got the game with PS+ and I've only been able to play when my friends made a private game. Using the matchmaker took nearly 30 minutes to find a game and then it was loading/connecting for 12 more minutes before I just shut the whole thing off.

Go with reload speed, damage, spread reduction, ammo backpack, and the zed time perk that lets you shoot in real time.

Buy the boomstick first and then save for the AA12. If you have excess dosh you can buy the medic shotgun too to help with healing but you won't have the weight for that until you're high level.

The LAR is worse than the pistols at clearing trash and worse than the M14 at killing big zeds.

The recoil's not the issue, it's the HZ-12's damage. 3200dmg doesn't mean as much when it takes longer to deal it all. Reload cancelling the DBS brings its continuous fire rate way up, and largely negates any potential advantage given by the HZ-12's magazine.

The HZ-12 is a great addition to supp's lineup, I use it all the time for trash, but it isn't a replacement for the DBS

More like its big brother. P90 is a tier 3 weapon that can out-DPS any weapon in the Commando's arsenal. And the Kriss is basically a SCAR with a gigantic mag (esp. @ LV25)

The only thing Commando has on SWAT is Stalker spotting. He gets cucked for free on all other areas. Even arguments like "Commando is better for far away kills :^)" are just bogus, SWAT weapons are accurate enough to snipe with, and the average map has very close quarters ranges to begin with

AK is great dude, it's my go to weapon every game as Commando. I fucking hate the stoner though. It should get a slower rate of fire and get penetration on bullets, right now it just feels like an SMG. and the HZ shotgun is a great side-pick to the super shotty, you sacrifice damage for better trash clearing. The both serve good roles. I don't think the starting GS revolvers need to be changed since you're supposed to get away from them as soon as possible, but maybe buff damage and cap the fire rate if you really want to change then.

The thing about the M16M203 though is how the explosive is much weaker than the M79, and I don't think the bullet damage is boosted at all which is a concern when it doesn't carry an awful lot of it. Only really a solo weapon and even then the HX25 is still great for what it is.

honest question, is this all there is to it?
everything unlocked from the beginning, with paid dlc cosmetics, and the same couple of bosses at the end of short number of rounds?
aside from the progression system i see little with the interest of longevity. i do like the gameplay though and it runs great!

Commando is very easy to sustain to do what it does best. With Gunslinger you have to pace yourself right and use the right guns, though you're pretty much guaranteed to run out of 1858 ammo on the first wave. They're just a really crappy starting weapon. Is the recoil a problem for you?

Survivalist needs a rework. I like the idea of an 'off-perk' perk, but its implementation is terrible.
What it should be is "the perk with weapons we could not classify."
He can still have access to all the other class weapons as is, but give him a series of exclusive weapons that simply follow no other perk.
Similar to the horzine scientist from that old KF1 mod.

New Survivalist

Jesus Christ, this. When binging on the double exp weekend I just couldn't help but feel SWAT was just boring as fuck to play by comparison to the rest of the perks, even if the Kriss and P90 work well there's nothing to shake it up. A new dedicated SWAT weapon and maybe some crossperk support through new or existing ones would do wonders to its replay value.

What does /v/ think of the perk anyway? Should it stay as a dedicated SMG class or branch out into a few other things on the side to help differentiate itself? I often see people suggesting riot shields or even SG-500/M4 crossperking.

Yeah. I fight the urge to burst but I can't seem to figure out how to aim dual pistols at the heads to rack up the counter. I have a much easier time using the default pistols. Using one of the GS weapons is much easier for whatever reason, but none of the sight options really help me when I pick up the second one.

Because they stand upright normally. The Monkey Scrake walked around hunched like a gorilla would so it wasn't just a reskin. Also technically Sirens do produce a stock sound and moans when just walking around, its that they're much more subtle than the bearded lady's "wololo" which made it stand out as fuck compared to other sounds.

I think something like a machine pistol to crossperk with another class could work. Maybe bring back the MAC-10 and share it with Firebug. Gunslinger already has a shitload of weapons it crossperks with, a lot of them most won't bother with either.

SWATs biggest flaw is that they called him SWAT.

A dedicated smg class is perfectly fine. I welcome it. They split up the sharpshooter and the gunslinger, so why not commando?
However, when you take that smg perk and name it SWAT, you make promises that you arent following up on.

Literally everyone who plays kf2 and sees the SWAT perk immediately expects dank police shit and then immediately gets disappointed. SWAT gives the impression that there will be things like riot shields and tazers and shit. instead all we get is smgs. Closest police stuff we get are the flashbangs.

They should just rename it Trooper or Gunner or something. Then give us a real SWAT perk.

Have it do little damage and be super slow to use but have huge as fuck knockdown and knockback, similar to what happens when a Scrake receives a blunt RPG shot to the head, except with much more force to it, and make it so if the flying ZED hits another ZED then it'll knock that one on its ass too.

Basically it would be used as either an emergency escape route opener if you need to go down a hallway that is crowded with ZEDs, or as a means to keep the big guys away from the team and buy everybody time to deal with them properly.

The only way they could possibly rework it is to introduce the napalm flamethrower of KF1 back and have it be a flame sniper that would catch ZEDs on fire form afar so they're die of the burn before reaching the team like he was in KF1.

Basically supposed to be the crossperking perk, which is also its downfall because it's not particularly good at anything. It starts with a random Tier 1 weapon, at Lv25 its damage scaling caps at 15%, and all of its skills are effectively taken piecemeal from other perks. Somewhat popular with people using Rae Higgins, an equally trash character whose only grace is actually being voiced by an Australian instead of a funny accent.

Boomstick is still the single best weapon to offperk for any class in the game, so using one as a Medic is still very much viable. Xbow has been nerfed into uselessness unfortunately, not even the Sharpshooter class can make it work anymore. Medic Rifle + Boomstick is the main Medic loadout, honestly.

Medic guns in KF2 have homing darts, even the pistol which only has one weight and so it's a common practice for even non-Medic players to take one because it's just handy.

No, no, and no. It used to be that if a fleshpound hit you without armor, you were fucking dead. A scrake would be on your shit once it raged; no running away or bashing it in the face and carrying on. A gorefast would kill you in 2-3 hits.

KF1 punished bad play much worse, and gave the player a much greater ability to exercise control over the situation if they knew what they were doing.

surv's weapon bonuses are so miniscule that 95% of the weapons he uses won't even get a noticable difference in shots to kill compared to another perk who's also offperking that weapon. What is the bonus, fucking 15% or something? A zerk with a railgun takes as many shots to decap a 6p HoE scrake as the survivalist would, except he also gets health regen, strong parries, and much stronger melee weapons. To top it all off, surv also doesn't have access to any form of incaps besides one of his zed time skills, and fire panic with molotovs. He can't use sharp weapons because those all rely on stuns to kill big zeds, he can't use commando's SCAR because having no mag size bonus combined with no extra stumble power means the surv can't even use the scar for what it specializes in. The entire perk is a fucking mess and 100% needs a full overhaul.

I think he's too popular to be replaced. The monkey scrake was by far the most popular summer sideshow zed so they just gave him a new outfit. Gingerfast is so beloved I'm willing to bet people will riot if he's replaced. Christmas Siren is totally getting a new skin, though.
