Yeah, that confused me on my first playthrough too, but after a bit of exploration I eventually found it and the rest of the game ended up great.
You should give it a shot another time if you ever feel like it.

I liked the story, guess I'll give it another go some time. Also I was constantly drunk when I first played it so that probably had something to do with my inability to progress.

I'm in my 30s and have owned most consoles since NES and never have been more autistic about a single game than I am for Spelunky. Definitely one if my most memorable games. My girl even bought me the book the creator wrote. I hope we get more Spelunky some day.
