It's not though. It's a great game but it has flaws.

I probably forgot a couple of things there, but you get the gist of it. It's an amazing game but claiming it's the best ever made is a little ridiculous.

Honestly I'm impressed by the world mechanics of the game, but since I don't like Zelda games I tried to imagine another game using them.
The result wasn't too interesting because most BotW mechanics are purely aesthetic and the only one worth of mention is the climbing which could be sequence breaking in most games or irrelevant since not even Zelda has a reward for climbing every last thing.

It's not so impressive of a game now that isn't new.

It's because it's mediocre and threw out everything traditional about Zelda games, yet people keep claiming it's "closer to it's roots" now because of the freedom to explore the world.
