Video games as a medium are unfit for "actual roleplaying" because they inherently limit player freedom far too much.
Try some Dungeons & Dragons tabletop games instead.

New Vegas I think is the best game currently that doesn't limit player freedom too much. No NPC is essential, you can kill anyone you want to, you can join any faction or be independent. You don't even have to do the story and just run around.

Not really. Sure I'm limited by what the developer gave me but as long as their are general choices for every area of morality it's fine. Table Top doesn't give me the full immersion that a video game will.

DA:O is good, tho.
One of the last true WRPGs Bioware did before falling from grace.
