Having recently played Castlevania 64 and it's remake Legacy of Darkness, one of the most "reviled" games of the franchise, to be very fun and enjoyable; possibly having my favorite Dracula of all time I do believe OP is full of shit.

Only one i've been dissapoint in so far is Circle of Moon. Felt uninspired, story was shit. Castle was bland, and bosses were shit too. Did have a hard dracula.

It's the first one on the NES. I can beat it in like 20 minutes or so and I do it regularly. The game is meaty but short, I personally think III is a bit overstuffed.

Every franchise has ups & downs. For every Symphony of the Night there will be a Lords of Shadow 2.

A game being overrated doesn't make it bad and a game being casualized doesn't make it bad either. Sure, would've been nice if it was a bit more challenging, but if you accept the igavania games as their own thing separate from the linear castlevanias, they're great.

I've only played Super Castlevania IV, SotN, and DoS. I hate to admit it but IV kinda kicks my ass and I never did get very far in it even though I'd say I were pretty decent at video games. SotN didn't pull me in and I never got very far in it either. I liked DoS even though I never beat that one as well.

I just started Ariw of Sorrow and this is pretty much SoTN on GBA isnt it? Im noticing a lot of reused assets.

I Think all the GBA and DS ones reuse assets from SoTN. Gameplay wise Order of Ecclesia would be the furthest from SoTN out of those ones. Maybe give some of the older ones a try since they play completely different. 1, 3, 4, Rondo, and Bloodlines I've heard are all good, only played 1 and Rondo myself and I can say those are good even though I've not actually finished either yet.

They looked fine in the original, I get using the western art style instead of an anime one, as a matter of fact, I prefer it, but were the design changes really necessary? Headband Richter is way better than whatever they used for Dracula X Chronicles
