this, I mean at least I could say dark souls is hard even though I can beat it under a couple of hours ffs

pretty difficult but definitely notdark souls
besides that I really enjoy it, having that level of control over my character is fun, I like the uncommon mechanics in the game like sacrificing things on an alter to appease your god and drinking from fountains only to be turned into a snake that lays egg and continue the game in that state until I eventually die.
What starter class do you usually play OP?

I beat NetHack 4 (fork of NetHack 3.4.3 with interface improvements) a while ago, it was alright but I have no desire to play NetHack ever again.

I did. I've beat almost all mainstream roguelikes.
But I primarily play DCSS because of stat tracking.

I started with Atari and C64 games but I just can't stand nethack and ascii games in general.
At least have a tileset like dorf fortress, then I'll try.
I also don't like games with RNG permadeath mechanics. I just stick to roguelites like Elona.
