That's literally how it works though. You're more likely to get it if you try again, as you're running your odds one more time. Trying once and failing has infinitely less odds than trying twice.

But if you start the from first try out of 20 then chances are you will get the tail earlier than the 20th try.

Which is more likely happen:

OR

B. Getting combo broken by a tail somewhere in the middle?

It's not that your chances of success increase with each try. It's that success has a higher rate of appearing at a random point out of multiple tries.
