I love CRPGs but Baldur's Gate really isn't very fun to play. Try Neverwinter Nights. That's the game that made be realise RPG is my favourite genre. NWN is like a casual BG in the sense that you only control one character but it's really not that casual because you can still get assraped unless you make a decent character.

You must be some special kind of idiot. I went into BG having only played Fallout and familiarised myself with the interface immediately. I’m not even good at CRPGs and there’s plenty of shit about BG I find hard but the UI is great and there’s a reason they used it in so many games.

You have the whole party selected.
Just click the portrait for the character who can cast, that should give you a spell icon at the bottom to click and select your spell.
Pausing with space bar will make it easier, also you can change the behaviour of auto party to prevent spell casting.

Yes, this is literally it. You NEED to pause every 2 seconds and control what your dudes are doing (terrible pathfinding has a lot to do with it as well) or else you'll get terribly assraped in every single late game encounter.
There's no going around it. Executing a strat and beating what felt like an impossible encounter feels incredibly rewarding but If that's too autistic for you you should just drop the game.

Might be a good thread to ask, I'm playing pic related and just don't understand how THAC0 works. Why does my fighter with a 2h sword hit more often than my thief with a dagger if they both have the same rank in their weapon proficiencies? Also how the fuck does hide in shadows work for thieves? Everytime I try to activate it, no matter where, it just says "hide in shadows failed".

Basically the lower the better. Fighters have the best base thaco out of all the classes, proficiencies are just modifiers iirc.
