/v/ has been purged. Threads are nice and slow.
Can we talk about vns and pseudo vns?
as long as Umineko babbies don't pollute the thread with their badly written VN
I like this one
Is this a good Mongolian pictographic entertainment product?
>>383526460
What is a pseudo vn?
>>383527000
Danganronpa, I guess? It has some gameplay, so it's not purely a VN.
>>383527000
VNs with some gameplay/half vn half gameplay. Examples are Zero Escape, Dangan Ronpa, Rance, etc.
>>383527163
This is about a wide variety of content though you dumb fucker. Zero Escape and Ace Attorney threads are allowed here. You're not a mod or even a janitor, so stop acting like you are.
>>383526880
I like this better
Just read Marie's route. It was hype as fuck. Can't wait for Kei bullying to be animated.

>people who fixate so much on an ending that they forget all the slog that came before it
ever17 is good but it has tons of problems
>>383526460
>full translation never
>>383526880
I hated the ending and myself for not understanding shit.
>>383526460
>that VN keeps track of when the last time you played it after beating it was
Any others that do this?
>>383528525
Was it toocomplex?

Furry spammer. Flooded /v/ and /vg/ with pokeporn, leading to a board wipe

Shirou is based as hell andalmost always gets a bad end like cmon whats a nigga gotta do.
>love interest in the game has different scenes for you depending on how much time has passed since you played the game
>one of these scenes is set after 10 years have passed
Dang
Any other game with unique 4th wall breaks, sans Undertale (no pun intended)
>>383529242
if we told you it would spoil
>>383528576
Too much plotto figure out. And I fucking hate the lack of a true route in a VN.A fetus was in the body swapping and the blond guy is no other than YOURSELF. But I have no idea about the TB disk, the kid and the real youkidou.
>>383528553
Not like Totono, which was part of its main gimmick they wanted people to hype up. There are games with system voices that comment on if it's been a while since you've opened the game though.
i feel like reading something that's gonna make me cry like a big ol puss
what should i read?
>>383529443TERRABYTO DISKU was sent back with yuni to make sure that real yukidoh would be able to enact his plan
if by "the kid" you mean yuni then it's actually a bit complex
real yukidoh was a madman who wanted to get revenge on the player

Swan Song or Kara no Shoujo.
>play VN with choices
>story seems cobbled together and only one particular route feels like the correct one
>read "kinetic novel" with no choices
>story is coherent and well paced
Do choices hurt visual novels? Is good story being sacrificed just so devs can shove a piss weak "gameplay" option into the novel?
>>383529868
It's possible to include meaningful choices and have them work well but if you want a tightly knit and high quality story you're more likely to get it from something that does not have choices for the reader
>>383528395
I really don't understand how they took such an interesting, unique setting of a high tech underwater theme park and turn it into the most boring thing ever. No tension until the very end of the route, no real urgency or atmosphere of imminent death, just yay lunchtime, fixing generators and pipes, cute anime hijinks like drawing on the protags face lol! Like fuck, at least in Never7 it made sense for slow paced sol scenes because they were just at summer camp, but in ever17 it makes me want to scream at the characters. Remember11 has an uninteresting setting in comparision (a two room cabin and a small facility) but it was tense and claustrophobic as fuck, death loomed at every corner.
>>383529868
In my experience kinetic novels have always been better. Most choices in a lot of VNs come down to "who u wanna fug"; I honestly prefer games that don't even bother with sex and focus more on everything else. Choices don't necessarily hurt visual novels but choices should reflect more than what girl you wanna hang out with.
There's some When They Cry haters in this thread I guess but regardless those games are a great example of what I mean.
>>383529978
Because they were transitioning out of the generic slice of life shit into a more serious story but did not fully commit
if you think about there's not really much else for the characters in ever17 to except for dick around, but that's a problem with the setting and the complete lack of danger, you get a few mentions of various areas getting crushed under water pressure but pretty much nobody is ever in actual danger untilthere's a death virus out of nowhere
it's just a lot of missed opportunity for a tense setting
>>383528553
Fuuuck this shit makes me cry every time.
>>383528553
>10 years after you play itGo further. 50 years. Will she even remember you at that point?
>>383529978
I know what you mean. Almost the entire thing was dull slice-of-life scenes with the occasional scene of running through similar-looking corridors while the place floods. That brief segment discussing the Archimedes Principle really excited me because it was doing something unique with the environment, but nothing else in the game ever lived up to it.
>>383528553
That's really dangerous, what kind of sick bastard would actually try to trick people into thinking an anime girl is real.
