Is there any reason to play the first Witcher game? I've had TW2 sitting in my library and was too retarded to buy TW1 and 3. Are they all worth a play or should I just watch a let's play of the first?

context on certain things
you should still play it though its not a bad game
not a great one either though
Don't ever let /v/ tell you whether or not to play a video game OP.

desu reading the books or atleast their synopsis will give you a better idea of the World of the Witcher than playing the first game. Although I recommend that you do it all since I love TW1 sometimes even more than 2.

I loved witcher 1 could play it again. But if you cant get past the graphics or the mechanics skip to 2.

I was hoping I'd get some real answers. Sometimes /v/ will surprise you. Besides, >Reddit

Story: brilliant, arguably better than W3, much better than W2, decent storytelling
Graphics: dated but okay, some locations look stunning even today.
Gameplay: lots of fun with alchemy and sign system. Combat is a rhythm game, annoying.
Translation: voice actors are bad, the script is corny, but it has a certain charm
Usual quibble: pacing is a bit slow in the beginning (prologue, act 1), just bear with it

just play with Polish dubbing and english subtitles

TW1
Medieval detective game where you spend most of the time running across the main town. Feels like a 90s WRPG and got lots of content.
>TW2
Action game with some RPG mechanics. The main quest is pretty good, but all the side content is weak.
>TW3
Hundreds of well crafted side quests that are 15-60 minutes long each, but they hardly interconnect at all. Mostly pointless RPG mechanics, so there is no real point in doing side quests.

TW1 is a good game provided that you can get past the lackluster combat and kind of boring early chapters. Give it a go.
It honestly wouldn't be a bad idea to start at the very beginning with the books. The games stand on their own just fine, but the also benefit a lot from having the context of the entire saga, TW3 in particular and especially Blood and Wine.
