Vita dpad has mechanical switches.
PS4 dpad doesn't. It tries to be comfortable but sacrifices precision.

It's all right for some games where you hold a lot of diagonal directions like Contra on NES, I discovered, but there's not many games like that and having reliability in SFV and Tekken would be better.

PS2 and 3 dpads weren't perfect in this either but they were better than 4. Original dualshock is actually best because you can't do this even if you try but the dpad is otherwise too stiff for comfort.

Companies like Sony don't care for this sort of detail anymore though.

Not arguing about the dpad part since i agree but still the ds4 sticks are pretty average and rather spend 5 burgers extra and replace them with xbox ones

I thought it was just a meme but the material they used for the sticks really is complete garbage. It started to wear out in less than half a year of extremely light play. It also just didn't feel that good to start with.
