Is it good localization when the translator alters in-game events

Very interesting subject. On one hand, I do see the argument for being as faithful as possible to the Japanese translation to try to keep all the intent. On the other, that seems like a translation that seems being end up than the original, since it adds more flavor and immersion. I guess I'm fine either way, as long as the quality ends up being good.
