No, because the low poly PS1 and N64 era looked absolutely awful and most of those games have outdated controls and movement that make them unplayable today.

Can't even go back to Crash Bandicoot, Ocarina of Time or Mario 64 anymore.

That game looks good but it's just a survival mode. You try to survive as long as possible in an arena while more and more enemies come in.
After a certain point the arena gets crowded to the point of impossibility. There's literally nothing else to the game which is a shame.

I like this game a lot. As hack & slash games go it's probably not sophisticated enough for a genre enthusiast, which I'm not. It's got fun music and nice designs, some unexpected environments and a variety of parts & weapons. But on the other hand it is procedural and kind of repetitive, if you like to clear every room. But between the visuals and the ease of control it's cozy and satisfying, a little weird, definitely made with care & affection by the right sort of people.

It's easily worth the price. A great little Saturday-morning game.

Maybe, maybe not; I think that we've all gotten really used to the idea that all newer games sort of control the same within their genres. It's nice being to pick up a new game and immediately know how to play, but I think that the accessibility and the forgiveness of modern controls might be stifling a lot of the general variety in games. So I think that there's a blurry distinction between which controls are actually bad for the game they are in, and which ones are just less intuitive to today's player. Bear in mind that we're also used to almost all controllers being extremely similar now and that wasn't the case in PS1 days or even PS2 days, so we've gotten used to that too.

I don't want devs to be afraid to do something different just because nobody is willing to learn a new scheme, which was part of the fun and novelty to yesterday's players. Of course there are definitely some ideas that deserved to die, like toggling "camera mode" on and off.
