The fun aspect for me is Scavaning, being lost and always watching out for other players. DayZ got that for me. Battle Royal is just a shitty lootfest with a map and occasional shooting. It's like LoL/Dota, less combat than any other game and just more grindfest before the real fight begins.

The next big thing will be SOS I think. All those variety streamers won't stay too long on one game and once they switch, playerbase hype will switch too. Updates will be less frequent and it will die slowly.
Then it will come out at some point, if we're optimistic, but by that point there will be so many new early acces games with a new different twist that no one wants to play that old game mode anymore anyway. This Hype Culture is abyssmal.
We don't know what we want. We just stick with whatever is currently the most fun. No point in trying to figure out some fun formula when its just too complicated. I just wish early acces would stop being seen as good enough and nearly "finished" just a few bugfixes missing.
