>The other day Akihabara got some Switch units, yeah they went fast
>A rural area Tsutaya making news for saying even if you order a switch from them it might not arrive before Christmas. Ouch
>>
they should just pm me, plenty of switch units in stores here
>>
How does a console with no games sell well? Is this artificial scarcity? Or are Nintendo players are Apple tier brainwashed cultists?
>>
>>383469957
Yes
>>
>>383469957
Nah. Nintendo has pretty much all the franchises they care about so it's a must buy from day one for them.
>>
>>383469950
Where are you in Tokyo?
>>
>>383469957
>How does a console with no games sell well
Ask the PS4? Hell ask the Xbone too.
>>
>>383470089
I thought Nintendo's first party franchises aren't as mainstream in Japan as they are in the west, since they have all the other more obscure series that never come overseas, but might be huge on the home turf. I guess it's not really the case then.
>>
>>383470236
Not Zelda or niche ones like Metroid but Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokemon all do well in Japan.
>>
>>383470236
Oh, that's definitely not true. http://en.rocketnews24.com/2012/07/08/japans-best-selling-video-games-of-all-time/
>>
>>383470275
Jap drones sure are weird.
>>
>>383469957
Ask in the Sony general. total drought since Horizon, still selling better than last year.
>>
>>383470550
Why?
>>
There's still plenty in the stores in Australia, they could easily buy them from here. This 'shortage' crap is just marketing.
>>
>>383470575
Unlike the Switch, both the Xbox and the PS4 have current gen 3rd party games to fill the time between first party games.
>>
>>383470676
Really? You're in the eastern states?
>>
>>383470575
As I see it, the PS4 sales come from the people that waited until the platform got enough exclusives for them to actually buy it. Regardless of the drought it might be experiencing currently, since it's the library it has already accumulated the buyers are looking at.
But Switch feels like the very opposite of that. People are buying it, despite the console has only like a couple of games, hoping that the third parties will support it in the future. Or maybe they really just don't care about the third party games.
>>
>>383470780
>As I see it, the PS4 sales come from the people that waited until the platform got enough exclusives for them to actually buy it.
Incorrect it sold well between 2013-2016.
>Regardless of the drought it might be experiencing currently
It's continuously had large droughts of games, especially during the holidays
>>
>>383470763
Queensland. JB and EB both have them in Brisbane, my friend just got one from JB.
>>
>>383470440
The amount of bingbingwahoos in this list is sickening. Also, why don't other monster collecting games, like SMT, sell as well as Pokemon? Maybe SMT should go E-rating for more sales?
>>
>>383470840
Yeah, poor/undeveloped areas seem to have have surplus units. I can't imagine it'd be cheap for Nintendo to rebuy the ~100 Switches in all of Queensland and ship them to Japan though

I love SMT too but are you really surprised the original monster collection game that's family friendly is selling better than SMT of all things?

Because it's Nintendo: If you don't buy it RIGHT NOW you wont be able to find one until 6 months after the games release, because Nintendo only made 100 units.
>>
>>383470780
>Or maybe they really just don't care about the third party games.
That's the healthy way to approach a Nintendo console.

Gaijin in Japan here.

The only reason why the units are sold out everywhere is because they refuse to buy online. While talking to a Japanese gamer about my Switch he got really shocked when I said I bought it from Amazon, I could see that it was something that didn't even cross his mind.

But yeah, Splat 2 ads everywhere, it will sell a ton.

>>383471535
Not me, funfact I've lived in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth but never visited Melbourne. Looking to visit in November.

You'd think Japs are way more computerized than any other nation. I keep seeing those amazon cardboard boxes in all my japanese animes and mangas.

I think Japan just has a hard time paying for things electronically in general. When I was living in Japan I'd see commercials all the time talking about the conveniences of paying for things with debit cards.

I can understand why their system of having to go to the bank and having everything recorded on your little bank book can be help you track your expenses better, but I'd rather just not worry about how much money I have as long as I have a general idea that I'm making more than I'm spending.
>>
>>383471543
It's sold out at amazon
>>
>>383471809
i'm sure it's a nice place but i'd rather go to somewhere else in japan. tokyo seems too westernized.
>>
Physical or digital? If digital, what sd card do I get? Wouldn't want one with 2 gb
>>
>>383471476
>29% of all Abos live in QLD
>You're a fucking abo from some shit hole town
You wot?
>>
>>383472107
If you value resale, physical. Nintendo games tend to hold value decently. If you know you'll never ever get rid of the game and want to pay a tiny bit more for the convienence of having it with you at all times, go digital - but I'd recommend a cartridge case instead.
>>
>>383471983

Technically, I can see some listings that you'll receive one within a week if you order now which shouldn't be an issue for anyone. When I bought it about 4 months ago it came within 2 days.

Point is that lining up is retarded and no one will be waiting until Christmas unless they insist on buying from the big department stores.
>>
>>383470981
knack has an 54 on metacritic
>>
>>383472368
That's scalpers, numbnuts. Some people buy from them but most people hate them and only want to buy Switch for the original price.
>When I bought it about 4 months ago it came within 2 days.
Then you bought it around launch so it was easier. It's always harder to find a console later on.
>and no one will be waiting until Christmas
There will be plenty of Japanese that won't be able to get Switch this year. Nintendo has increased capacity so that should help some but they're still releasing the Switch worldwide, not just Japan. SMO is coming so it'll stay sold out all of 2017 at least.
>>
>>383472624

>Then you bought it around launch so it was easier. It's always harder to find a console later on.

Was around May to be more precise, but I'm convinced they could find a Switch if they cared not to buy from brick and mortar stores.

Obviously if all the demand was spread even out I guess it'd take a couple weeks to get your hands on one, but as it stands it should be pretty easy.
>>
>>383472845
>but as it stands it should be pretty easy
If that was true this thread wouldn't exist in the first place, man.
>>
>>383470981
>to smart too be unbiased
Remasters like MK8 count, but TLoU doesn't?
>>
>>383469867
There's plenty of switches here in England, why don't they just order from Amazon.co.uk?
>>
>>383472921

It exists because they like lining up since are afraid to pay electronically, like this anon >>383471960 said.

Fuck, the last girl I dated gave me some strange looks when I used my Suica to pay for the bill just because it was over 1k yen.
>>
>>383472931
He's listing games, not movies
>>
>>383470981
>the original monster collection game
SMT is older than Pokemon
>>
>>383473008
Wait the Switch launched in England? Why wouldn't they wait until FIFA came out, that's the only game people in the UK play anyway
>>
>>383473107
Not sure what the point in delaying the release of the switch here would be, even Norway got them at the same time as us. Also I actually checked amazon and they're sold out, strange there's a ton in the stores here. My best friend in New Zealand told me that their stores are stocked full of them too.
>>
>>383472496
And Zelda has 97 and Mario Kart has 92. He should probably update it.
>>
>>383473298
>Not sure what the point in delaying the release of the switch here would be
It seems weird not launching with the only game people in the UK play: FIFA. I mean that's what every other console does

Isn't it up to like, a million pre-orders in Japan alone?
>Imagining what it'll be like when the mainline Pokemon game finally gets revealed
Good for Nintendo. I genuinely like the home/handheld console hybrid gimmick.
>>
>>383470236
They announced SMTV, FE16, Xenoblade 2, Gen 8 Pokémon, Dragon Quest X+XI, plus Splatoon 2 is out in two weeks. The Switch is a must-buy for Japs.
>>
>>383469957
Nintendomongs just keep buying the exact same game over and over and over since childhood.
>>
>>383473298
There aren't actually a ton in stores, they just have the boxes on display. Used ones for over £300 in CeX and Grainger Games don't really count as us having "a lot".
>>
>>383471543
I've heard Japs are quite backwards regarding most things digital.
>>
Why dont nips just import them from outside japan
>>
>>383475359

Now fuck off Melbourne shitter SJW.
>>
Japan's major Nintendo demographic is 7-15 year olds. Reminder that you're taking literal under aged Japs' taste as gospel.
>>
>>383471543
Gaijin in Okinawa.

Switch is not available at any of the local retailers. I went to 6 different stores, not a single one in stock.
